Post aftermath reactions of ron paul on Neil Cavuto

Executive Order 33576

It is hereby ordered by the Executive Branch and Office of the President of the United States that all federal employees must be laid off and no replacements shall be made in the following agencies and deparments: IRS, Social Security Administration, Department of Energy, Department of Education, FBI, CIA, ATF, Department of Health and Welfare, Department of Housing, Federal reserve, DEA, NASA, US Geological Survey, EPA, Department of Interior, and Department of Agriculture.

Signed
President of the United States Ron Paul
January 20, 2009

It wouldn't work. There was some discussion during the Nixon administration of refusing to spend moneys the Congress had voted for certain programs. The legal consensus is that this would violate the President's oath to faithfully execute the laws. If the Congress votes the money, the President can't just decide to "disappear" the departments.

Edited to add: I just looked into it further and because Nixon kept trying to do this, Congress passed the 1974 Congressional Budget Reform and Impoundment Control Act. It's illegal for the President to impound funds the Congress has voted for government activities.

I didn't say the President using funds, I said FIRE ALL FEDERAL EMPLOYEES IN AGENCIES NOT AUTHORIZED IN THE CONSTITUTION. The President only has to execute constitutional laws.

Assuming it is violating the Constitution WHICH IT CLEARLY ISN'T, it is far worse to keep a unconstitutional program then to get rid of an unconsitutional program. It's just a lame excuse for a politician to make who breaks a promise of reducing government or a politician who wants to have his cake and eat it too.

Neil Cavuto asked him "If you were President on January 20 would you tell the American people that they didn't have to pay taxes?"

Ron Paul: No, I would ask the Congress and try to persuade the Congress.

That to me sounds like he has no intention of pardoning tax evaders as President. It sounds like he is going to compromise his principles and work with Congress which is in essence selling out.

He'll win the election, but he'll never do the things he says he is going to do such as getting rid of the IRS and drastically cutting federal programs.

Wait following the constitution means he is a sellout? Thats a new one.

Dr. Paul argued well against the big bully puppet. They just don't get it, they are not going to be able to trick him. Every time they try to, he comes off making sense and they look like religous zealots trying to push some doctrine. Great job Dr. Paul, keep it up.

Speaking of which, here's what I said to Cavuto.

Hello Neil,

Just wanted say thanks for having congressman Paul on again. I think
it's great that you're grilling him, though you should give him time
to respond after you ask something.

Thanks!
