Possibly 5 million dollars

According this article, if Ron Paul is near 5 million then he is at the same money stance as John McCain. This is truely amazing. The really amazing thing is that I don't even think that Ron Paul has done many fund raisers and he currently doesn't have the support of the big spenders like Rudy McRomneyson.

We are getting it done. I can feel the change happening and it isn't small anymore.

No, it would mean that Dr. Paul had raised by now as much as McCain did back in March. That said Dr. Paul had, what, six?, paid staffers until recently while McCain had about 120 paid staffers just in New Hampshire. The good doctor does a good just husbanding his resources. I'm mighty interested to see how the "cash on hand" numbers look for all of them.;)

You can see all of the candidates finances here http://www.fecinfo.com/2008presidentialpotentials.htm (this was for last quarter)

McCain, Romney, and Giuliani, while they have raised millions, have spent millions as well.

RP has spent a little over $120k, (if there's any doubt about him being able to cut government spending, i think this should eliminate it):D

We have to remember that the 'top-tier' candidates usually are associated with law firms, entertainment industries, or major companies... people who can afford the maximum donation...

if 1,000 people donate the max, that's 2.3 in the bank. I'm actually surprised how little the rest of the GOP has been able to raise.

*EDIT*
http://www.fecinfo.com/2008presidentialpotentials.htm... thanks for posting this... this is a *really* great website.
^^^^^This website completely changes how I look at the way presidential campagins are financed... and it also opens up *SO MANY* opportunities. seriously.

I truly believe Ron Paul has already won. The best part about it? We're ( Ron's supporters ) are *not* going to stop... o man... this is happening for real guys :)

I know Romney has been running ads on the business channels multiple times a day for several weeks now.

So he's burning through some dollars already.

:)

Let him, he still can't beat Guliani with all those ads. Wait til Paul airs his ads...

Ron has only had 2 lawyers donate to his campaign :-P

That's just 1 thing I found out real quick using that handy dandy website.

Lots of farmers have donated, though. O man. We (RP supporters) are so smart. We're going to own this shiz. :P

WOOHOO! Just today someone was saying to me that Dr. Paul didn't have enough money to be viable, so he wasn't sure he wanted to support him. This is great news and will make more folks want to donate, and the rest of us to donate even more. Yesssssss!!

Wait till the doubters see how much we raise over the next 2 months....25 mil is NOT unreachable....

People love Ron Paul....because he was saying the RIGHT thing....

While everyone else was buying into FALSE PATRIOTISM saying the wrong thing.....

Yeah let's kill millions of people over there so they don't come here....

Bet you the Neocon who thought that up is looking for a new job now :)

It's killing me that I can't afford to donate! Augh!

Thank you to everyone who has the financial wherewithal to donate. I would send in $5 if I could afford it... knock on wood I'll be able to do more come September.

Maybe those people who have maxed out their 2300 can hire people like me who can't afford to donate.... they could pay us and then we could donate a portion of our work until we have donated 2300 also. does that make sense?

I don't think that will work - from the Paul campaign website, federal law requires you to confirm:

"3. I am making this contribution (and paying this credit charge) with my own personal funds, and I am not using funds provided by any other person or from any corporation, labor union or national bank to make this contribution. "

look at Giuliani's fundraising for the first quarter, sorted by Top 10 Contributions by Employer From Individuals (as reported by filer) :

http://www.politicalmoneyline.com/cgi-win/x_candpg.exe?DoFn=P00003251*2008

The top donations are from people who left employer blank or put homemaker??? Sounds like workers for special interests and those people's spouses. Many of those donations are the maximum amount. Huh????

Doesn't federal law require listing the employer if donating over $200? The other "top-tier" candidates are just like this. This should be exposed.

if you work for the money, wouldn't the money you earn from your labor be considered your personal funds?

Yeah, it would. But somebody giving a gift to somebody then that second person turning around and donating that to the campiagn is not allowed.

I see what you are saying and I guess that would work. If you had some really rich Ron Paul supporter, he could hire less rich Ron Paul supporters and hope they would spend their income (minus their income tax) on a campaign donation. I don't know what the workers would have to do be considered legitimate, and I don't know what would happen if non-Ron Paul supporters wanted a job.

You know what would be awesome? If, when Bill Maher's Real Time comes back, Paul has a couple of million in the bank, and Maher invites Ben Affleck back on to eat his "He's got no support" words ;)
