A 16-year-old boy was running for his life after being shot at in downtown San Diego. He was not a threat and not a suspect, yet he was shot in the back by a police officer who only saw him for ONE second before deciding to pull the trigger. Sadly, that young man lost his life that night, which I detailed in a video back in March. Now it has been announced that the City is set to agree to THE LARGEST police settlement in US history – 30 million dollars.

I can imagine the psychological trauma that poor officer must be going through after making such a mistake. Maybe @TheTexan can set up a GoFundMe for him. I'm sure he'll need years of therapy.

the boy was fleeing gunshots fired at him by another person when he encountered Gold, who shot the boy twice in the back "instantly
Being shot in the back typically means the person is moving away from the LE officer and not an imminent threat.

Robin Williams had a routine along those lines ... "BAM, BAM, BAM - Stop or I'll shoot"

There was no mistake. A probably armed black juvenile probably carrying drugs was violently rushing towards the Officer to probably attack him.

The Officer did what he had to do.

The city was strong armed into a bad settlement but the city says its "not an admission of liability by any party."

At the moment the Officer makes the decision to pull the trigger, the juvenile is sprinting toward the Officer, and then at the last moment the juvenile changes direction.

Saying the Officer shot him in the back is factually accurate but misleading.
