POLL: Trump Leads GOP Field Among Hispanics, Records 34% Favorability

Presidential candidate Donald Trump leads other GOP contenders among Hispanics, a recent poll shows.

Trump recorded a 34% favorability rating among Hispanics in a national poll conducted by Public Policy Polling (PPP) among 1,087 registered voters between July 20-21.

Trump has made immigration a seminal part of his campaign, receiving praise, but also criticism, from the political left and right.

During a much-publicized visit to the border in Laredo, TX last Thursday, Trump told reporters he thought he would "win the Hispanic vote."

Gov. Bush (R-FL) follows Trump with a 31% favorability rating among Hispanics, and Senator Cruz is close behind with 30%.

Senators Marco Rubio (R-FL) and Rand Paul (R-KY) both recorded 29%, Gov. Scott Walker (WI-R) 26%, and businesswoman Carly Fiorina 25%.

Rounding out the poll was Gov. Chris Christie (R-NJ) with 21%, and former Gov. Mike Huckabee (R-AR) and neurosurgeon Dr. Ben Carson, both with 16%.

Announced GOP candidates Gov. John Kasich, former Gov. George Pataki (R-NY), former Gov. Rick Perry (R-TX), former Sen. Rick Santorum (R-PA), Gov. Bobby Jindal (R-LA), and Sen. Lindsay Graham (R-SC) were not presented among the results.

We need more than a wall. We need to eliminate: sanctuary cities, catch & release, anchor babies, allowing employers to knowingly hire illegals, immediate branding and deportation of criminals. But building a wall could be a start if followed by more systemic measures.

Trump's support with Hispanics and Latinos will grow as Trump begins emphasizing trade and jobs in ads. Legal immigrants of all ethnicity want their jobs and communities protected from illegal border-busters.

Hilarious in a good way.

I am guessing some legal hispanics realize illegal hispanics can take their jobs and realize they get profiled by police because of their hispanic illegal counterparts.

If usa was serious about a wall, theyd pay good money for private land or givr private land owners more freedom to protect their lands.

[h=1]Donald Trump touted a poll that said he'd be an 'unmitigated disaster' against Hillary Clinton[/h]

By far the worst performing Republican against Clinton is Donald Trump, who trails 50/37. Or you could look at that Unfavorable with Hispanics 59% which is also the highest.

But don't take my word for it.

Tom Jensen, PPP's director, told Business Insider on Wednesday that his firm "didn't even release a breakout of Hispanic voters for the Republican primary, and several other Republicans do better head to head against Clinton with Hispanics." "It's a pretty novel interpretation of the poll results!" Jensen exclaimed in an email. "On the whole his numbers with minorities are pretty terrible."

Donald Trump piñatas are a smash hit in Tijuana

Piñata at the Hidalgo Market here.

Donald Trump's papier mache likeness sells for $12 to $18, depending on the quality and details. The piñatas typically feature a sweep of blond hair and a mouth frozen open.

"People have been asking for him a lot," said Esther García, a saleswoman at Dulcería Conchita, one of half a dozen piñata and candy shops at the traditional market near the city's Río Zone. Then she added: "I don't like him."

Vendors across the city have been capitalizing on the wave of animosity Trump engendered with remarks last month characterizing Mexican immigrants as rapists who bring drugs and crime to the U.S.

Although Minnie Mouse, Spider-Man and Minions piñatas remain popular for kids' birthday parties, Trump effigies are drawing a different clientele: grown-ups.

Many of Martín Saenz's clients at Dulcería El Chato are from north of the border. "Sometimes, they say they want to grab him, before even buying," he said.

Saenz makes the shop's big-eyed piñatas in his spare time and has crafted about 50 Trump likenesses since the Republican candidate's controversial comments.

But not everyone wants a smashable Trump. Shopper Edwin Ríos Rubio said he had no interest in buying a Trump piñata. "He denigrates Mexicans and seems very despotic," said the 29-year-old merchant from Baja California Sur. "He's a racist. I wouldn't even buy one as a joke."

Trump is by no means the first political figure to be portrayed in a piñata. Mexican protesters for years have used the figures to lampoon their country's politicians. And a few piñata makers have been creating likenesses of drug cartel leader Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzmán since his escape this month from a Mexican prison.

Imagine if they did the same thing with Obama... lol. Just think of the outrage and racism and calling for war

There is a huge difference between Obama and Trump, Donald Trump doesn't have a chance at winning a general election, in Donald trumps own words " Mitt Romney alienated Hispanic voters lost all of the Latino vote. He lost everybody who is inspired to come into this country.”

BOOM: Donald Trump Just Asked the 1 Question About Hillary Clinton No One Else Will …

“I think I’ll beat Hillary easily ... I don’t think these other guys will ... What she has done is criminal,” Trump continued. “I don’t see how she can run … What she did is far worse than what Gen. (David) Petraeus did, and he’s gone down in disgrace … I mean, she got rid of her server. He never did anything like that.”

Trump's numbers will grow with Hispanics and Latinos when he focuses on jobs. Time will tell. Politics can change on a dime. Even nations and empires fall. Interesting times.

He lost everybody who is inspired to come into this country.”

They dont vote in significant numbers in the swing states.

Boring 50 year old white women from Ohio will help pick the President.

They agree with Rand we need less neocon war and they agree with Trump with a Trade War.

The GOP gets 27-40% of the Hispanic vote. Any one of those numbers Romney would have lost.

The Hispanic vote is small. Only 10% because you have to be interested, a citizen and an adult to vote.

Trump is courting Rustbelt whites who want a trade war and don't have any sympathy for illegal alien wonderboys.

Most Hispanics and Mex-Hispanics live in Blue Cali, Red TX, Red AZ, Blue IL, Blue NY and other states.

Only Florida has an overabundance of Hispanics. Half of them are Puerto Rican or Cuban which means immigration will be even less of an issue than with a Mex-Hispanic.

Trying to appeal to Mestizos will not work for conservatives. Cultivate your base, these other demographics will NOT vote for you.

Everyone talks about demographics of destiny, but if the evangelicals simply showed up for Romney in 2012, Obama would be on the public speaking circuit. It's still largely a white country, but it's fragmented by religion, income and geography. If someone can unite the various white factions, no minorities can withstand the wave.
