From Naked Politics:

Republican Gov. Rick Scott and Democrat Charlie Crist are in a dead heat in the latest Quinnipiac University poll, with Scott at 44 percent, Crist at 42 percent and Libertarian Adrian Wyllie at 8 percent, with 17 percent saying they might change their minds before they vote. When Wyllie is removed from the equation, the results are Scott 46 percent and Crist 44 percent. The poll of 991 likely Florida voters was conducted Sept. 17-22 and has a margin of error of 3.1 percentage points.

Quinnipiac's survey shows the relentlessly negative tone of the campaign is having an effect on the mood of voters as fewer than four out of 10 voters say Scott or Crist is honest and trustworthy. However, Scott outpaces Crist on leadership qualities by 58 percent to 46 percent, and Scott performs better among independent voters than Crist, 44 percent to 37 percent.

Both candidates' favorability ratings are poor and nearly identical, with likely voters giving Scott an unfavorable rating by 48 percent to 42 percent, and to Crist by 49 percent to 41 percent. Crist has virtually no advantage among women voters: 43 percent to Scott's 41 percent.

With less that six weeks to election day, Quinnipiac's Peter Brown said the two keys to the rest are independent voters and supporters of Wyllie. Brown said it's a mystery whether the poll's Wyllie supporters will stick with him or go with Scott or Crist at the end to "be with the winner."

and from the Wyllie camp yesterday (and today.. I got it twice)

To Our Supporters,
I am writing as an appeal to you to support, Adrian Wyllie, now more than ever before. I know how hard we all work to get our message out and this campaign. I know how much sacrifice has already been made. Trust me when I tell you that I would not ask for your help if it was not absolutely imperative.

CNN, The New York Times, The Washington Post and nearly every political pundit across the country has called the governor's race in Florida one of the top 5 races to watch in 2014. That includes all US Senate, Governor and US House races. To say that all eyes will be on Florida (again) is an understatement. All of these same national publications have included our Libertarian candidate, Adrian Wyllie in not only their local coverage but in their national coverage. He has been on television, print and radio in every major market in Florida. A google search shows him in 287 news articles JUST FROM YESTERDAY. Huge radio broadcasters in the Tampa and SW Florida market have not only included him but personally endorsed him on air. We have not only broken through the media blackout but crushed it with news stories coming out more than daily on Adrian because of YOUR efforts.
Today, we have announced (too much media fanfare) that Adrian has retained famed attorney Luke Lirot to fight for inclusion in the debates. The organizers of the debates have increased their own criteria to exclude 3rd party candidates. Adrian would have qualified months ago by their old criteria and still would today. So in response, they have raised it to ensure exclusion.
At the same time, we have taken on this large and expensive legal battle, we have also begun to run our own commercial. It will cost nearly $5,000 in each market to run this ad at times people will see it. It will cost even more if we want good frequency. With Florida having 7 major markets this will be another costly endeavor.
I reach out to you because with all eyes being on Florida and Adrian getting included in this race as a true equal to his infamous competitors, it puts us on equal footing in the minds of voters around the country. They will see that we, right here in Florida, have candidates that IS equal, if not better, than the "lessor evil" candidates they continue to be bombarded with from the major two parties. It will have a huge impact."

there was a bit more but it was just the standard send your donations stuff...
has anyone seen his commercial? I haven't. I really think all it would take is a 15 second spot.. his name and pic.. big and stand out.. with a voice over saying "you have a better choice for Governor"

If Crist loses (and he's a snake), he'd have the distinction of having lost as a Republican, an Independent and now, a Democrat.

I don't even really consider Crist as a serious candidate, he just has serious money behind him. I tell you this, I hope they don't really expect all of those youth coming out to vote for Amendment 2 to REALLY vote for a gov we've already had or has lost as a Rep and an Ind...

He could still try running as a Libertarian. They'd take him.

There's a good little comic that someone made here in FL that depicts exactly that. It was made right after Scott first began polling ahead, and it was shown Adrian was mostly the cause of that.

*Note to self: Dig up comic*

I'd expect a better press release/donation plea from the third place candidate for a middle school class president.

Maybe someone should donate for a copy-editor.

(A "lessor" is someone who leases their property to a "lessee".)

annnnnnd we have liftoff for the commercial.

JMHO but.. 15 secs too long.. which means the price was twice as much to run as necessary, and I'd personally burn that yellow tie.

My wife and I will be voting for that yellow tie. ;)

oh yeah.. me too.
Ya know how when you're young some things people say stick with you for life? Many years ago, my parents were on the elect James Buckley crew. Even back then there were stylists of a sort. I remember hearing from way back then, that yellow, especially pale yellow on fair people (and white shirts) a long urine stain.. just something you don't want to see on someone you want to trust. That image has stuck with me for decades.
