POLL: Ron Paul's VP???

I would have to agree with some of the others in Colin Powell for the reasons mentioned.

So you want Cain to be Ron's VP? Seriously? He's not very bright to be honest & he'd also repel a lot of Ron's own libertarian-leaning base as well as Indies & Dems because what if Ron dies, naturally or "otherwise"? Then we're stuck with a pea-brain who can be easily manipulated while we're in some of the toughest times the country has ever faced. And Ron who's talked all his life against Fed having a former Fed chair as his VP? How does that sound? We need someone who can carry the torch of liberty forward & has a national GOP appeal at the same time.

Moreover, Ron has clearly outlined that he'd want a VP who'd agrees with him which I don't see with a neo-con, pro-Fed, corporatist > http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fGZj-LlP40I#t=46m5

It is wrong to say Cain has a "pea-brain". He was a mathmatician for the Navy and wouldn't be where he is today if he was stupid.

If Paul wants to win he needs GOP support. Don't expect him to win if he goes with a Gary Johnson type.

This is a funny poll, can't believe Ventura is winning. Its also a fun poll, someone should recreate it here and weed out the most obvious non-choices like Lew Rockwell, Alex Jones, etc.

I voted Tom Woods, surprised to see who is above him in the poll. Lew, Jones, Cain, Nader, Ventura.. All bad options.

Honnestly, as much as I love most of the people on that list they don't add anything to the ticket electorally, I still stand that the two top possible VP picks that are game changers are...

1. Luis Fortuno - Governor of Puerto Rico, one with a growing hispanic vote it does have an effect, and he's very good on economics
2. Nikki Haley - Governor of South Carolina, Tea Party favorite, knows how to handle intense media scrutiny, and is popular in the most conservative state which is where Ron Paul is the weakest with the traditional conservative crowd.

I think these are the top two picks regardless of the Primary winner...

Unless Bachmann Wins, she should choose Gary Johnson as her VP since she'll need to make an appeal to the center and center left which she has no appeal too.

In the slim chance Santorum wins... I leave the country

So you think being a mathematician means he can't be stupid? Intelligence works on many levels, & one only has to listen to him & see his lack of understanding of politics to realize that he's not very bright.

And again, considering that Ron has been talking against Fed for ages, how does him having a Fed chair as his VP sound? Did you see the video I've linked? Ron clearly wants someone who agrees with him & a war-mongering, pro-Fed corporatist can't be it. Further, he'd repel some of Ron's own base as well as Indies & Dems, & what if Ron dies or something? Would Cain carry on Ron's path then? I wouldn't bet a cent on it. :(

As for winning GOP support, if you'd read the thread, you'd've realized that I've already discussed why Rand would be the best choice among the lot & Ron should declare him as VP before the primaries to get mainstream GOP voters to fall in line. Please read some of my earlier posts as well as this one - http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showth...te-in-2007-8&p=3365860&viewfull=1#post3365860

Okay, good points. He might not be the best option after all. But he may still be an option.

I just don't think Rand would be a good idea. Too gimmicky and Ron has already said this.

Actually he's the BEST option because other libertarian-leaning people like Johnson, Baldwin, etc don't bring anything to the ticket while the Cains, Bachmanns, ROmneys repel Ron's own base & those who're disillusioned by "mainstream" candidates; Rand is the only one who'll not only appeal to the mainsteam GOP but also to the libertarian-leaning base of Ron as well as Indies & Dems.

As for gimmickry, as I've said, gimmickry is exactly what works, "first black president", "first lady president", etc etc so why not "first father-son ticket"? And Ron has never said he wouldn't consider it, he's been asked several times if he'd consider Rand as his VP & he's NEVER been dismissive about it (check out the links below), he says he hasn't talked to Rand about it so he's open to the possibility & for the reasons I've stated in my last post, he'd give Ron the best chance.

Keep in mind that, apart from appearances and campaigning, the vice president doesn't do a whole lot. The Judge would be more useful on the Supreme Court. Tom Woods and Peter Schiff need to get into the Fed.

You're forgetting the most important aspect of Vice-Presidency ie VP becomes the President in case the President dies or gets killed or something.
