I'm an agnostic atheist, meaning I acknowledge there is no way of knowing if there is/are a/any supreme being(s), while personally believing that none exist.

I have no problem with religion on a personal level, however organized religion is a collectivist institution akin to government.

I'm glad that this poll shows that the RP movement isn't as religious as it seems. I wouldn't be surprised if nonreligious/atheist/agnostic people actually make up the majority here. Whoever said that the atheists on this forum are too quiet was dead on.

This is definitely NOT a cross section of the RP grassroots. If this was projected over the entire 1.1M people who voted for RP, 15.15% of atheist voters would have voted for him. Also, my meetup would be statistically abnormally Christian in the least churched region of the United States. Not likely at all.

I'm willing to bet if there is a devil, he'd run as a neocon
They both want to classify people as good vs. evil anyways.

Maybe they were the first 2 party system.

God telling people what they can or CANNOT do and if they don't follow they burn for eternity in hell, and then satan saying, do what you want as long as you worship me....

Minus the "needing to be worshipped" out of the two I guess I would choose to "live as I want to".

Seriously though, christians, bible believers or what have you.

What does liberty, freedom of choice have to do AT ALL with christian living, the 10 commandments, worshiping one and living for him at all times?

Personal beliefs are one thing but to live your life 100% for someone or something you have never seen or heard? That was hard for me to wrap my head around. Whenever I asked that question in church they come back with, well you need to have faith and believe in heart...... yada yada., yes I know, my government tells me the same exact thing.

Believe that we are TELLING you how you should live. If you don't like it well then you can go to hell... Come on.....

I suppose someone hacked the results then? Anything to cling to your religious fairytales, right? People couldn't actually be waking up! Oh no, that would be terrible. Your delusions would fall out of public favor.

Unfortunately for you, the death knell of organized religion is sounding abroad. Nonreligious people are or will soon be the majority in most civilized countries. The US is following suit. I, for one, couldn't be happier. :)

And the probability that an intelligent being even MORE complex than the universe existing and creating the universe?

Not everyone defines God as an "intelligent being" I don't think... So I'm not sure how "God" would necessarily have to be "more complex" than the universe, sounds like some dogma found in a Dawkins book - if you want to explain the theory more for me.

This.

Also the Church used to fulfill the EXACT same role as the STATE many, many, many years ago. :)

I was just saying that the statistical odds of those things being true makes it not very likely that this is a cross section of the RP movement. I live in the least churched region in the country, and we pray when we go to a meetup on a regular basis. It would be abnormal from a statistical standpoint for that to be true. That isn't based on religion, it is based upon simple mathematical probability.

Statistics and facts have ZERO to do with religion and faith based belief.

I am simply stating that for this poll to be true for the whole Ron Paul movement, my meetup group would be extremely statistically abnormal to the point that the odds of it existing are virtually zero. This isn't about religion, it is about the mathematics of statistics. The same would be true if we had a poll on race, and my meetup group was almost all black in an area that is the least black in the whole country, yet the poll said that only 33% of the movement was black, while 33% was white. In a place with the most whites, and there are so few of them in my meetup, I am forced to conclude that the poll isn't representative.

Is Ron Paul worship a religion? :D

Worship Ron Paul?

hmmn.

Someone who could actually do something positive for the world...

That would make too much sense, let's leave the religion to mythical beings and others we can't see, touch, feel or even hear.

WHERE ARE THE MIRACLES.....

I want to see the work of these god(s) because besides the bible and the wonderful stories within it, I have yet to hear or read of any other miracles EVER being done.

Water into wine?
Come on, I would love a drink right now and I have a ton of water..

Part the seas?
Imagine being able to drive to another continent versus taking a boat or plane. That would be sweet.

Currently all I see that is LIKE the stories in the bible are the death, destruction, famine, disease and sin.

You obviously have never been to a hospital if you haven't seen a miracle.

I am agnostic.

This whole conversation is outside of the scope of our purpose. We are united to limit the powers of government, independent of our religion. It is not in our interest to debate personal beliefs.

ONCE AGAIN

people giving the big ol THANK YOU to the man upstairs INSTEAD of the doctor who odds are worked on whoever he or she was saving for 14 hours....

The miracle workers in YOUR scenario are the doctors and nurses and not someone ELSE.

God forgive us for giving praise to the ACTUAL people who deserve it VERSUS ASSuming that it MUST HAVE BEEN God who allowed this doctors hands to perform the miracles.

This is exactly why religion and faith based b.s. makes me laugh.

It couldn't have been the doctor, oh no.... It must have been someone ALLOWING him to keep this person alive.

Give me a break and go read another fictional book.

I am talking about the cases where the doctors can't be involved and no medicine can save someone, but they live to tell the tale anyway. It happens all the time.

Or even something as simple as just one year ago, almost to the day, when my mother received a kidney transplant. She was going to leave the list for a new one on the Monday before Thanksgiving. She got it on that Saturday. 48 hours and it wouldn't have happened. 48 measly hours, and the transplant wouldn't have happened.

Christian. Protestant to be exact, although I have a tendency to lean different ways depending on my area of study.

What does anything in the above have to do with a miracle.

People call it a miracle when someone catches an ALMOST impossible pass to get a touchdown.

Why do people keep living WITHOUT doctors and medicine? Well because most medicines have more side effects than the disease or sickness most people have anyways.

Your moms kidney transplant. She was "going to leave" the list but didn't and ended up getting a kidney. I am happy she was able to get one but where in that story is a miracle.

Here is a miracle.

Your mom actually got off that list and someone knocked on her door and said, "God told me that you needed this kidney more than I did".

Also, tell me there wasn't some doctor or transport team working their ass off for that. For something like that to happen I DOUBT it was no one working on locating your mom a kidney.
