Please Sticky This: RNC is fighting amongst themselves

To my Republican leaders:

I'm a life-long Republican. I've never missed a vote, and I've never
voted for anybody but Republicans.

But more than that, I'm a CONSERVATIVE!

As a conservative, I will NEVER vote for John McCain. I'm not the only
one who feels this way.

You can't sell me ground beef and tell me it's filet mignon. I would
rather endure years of Democrat rule than compromise my principles so
egregiously.

At the very least, my hope is our Party will wake up and take this
DEFEAT as a loud-and-clear message. Conservatives are the lifeblood of
the GOP. We won't be abandoned so easily.

Thanks for your time.

To whom it may concern
I am writing to share some thoughts and frustrations. Our Republican party has been falling apart at the seams and it is desperately in need of repair. We must look at the status and condition in an honest and critical way if we are to rebuild the GOP.
I remember when Republicans stood for smaller government, lower taxes and fiscal responsibility. We have had a President for the last seven years that has not been a very good Republican in my opinion and has severely damaged our brand name. Now I am hearing how we are running our two best liberals against the Democrats two best liberals for President. This is not a good sign.
After the election results of 2006, the last thing we need is another pounding in 2008. I fear 2008 could be worse than 2006. Until we can promote candidates worthy of the Republican name we will get what we deserve. This is not fun and we have only ourselves to blame.
To me a Republican should be conservative, not neo-conservative. Smaller government should be our goal. Lower taxes are a must. A balanced budget is essential. We have the ability to show America why the Republican solution is better than the Democrat solution. When Republicans are again conservative, we will win.
I suggest that the Republican National Committee promote conservatives such as Ron Paul so we can restore this nation to its former glory before the Democrats take us further down the road of socialism.
I use the example of Ron Paul because he has integrity and an incredible voting record. Ron Paul is a true conservative and never flip-flops. This is a man that deserves the full backing of the Republican National Committee.
Brief Overview of Congressman Paul’s Record:
He has never voted to raise taxes.
He has never voted for an unbalanced budget.
He has never voted for a federal restriction on gun ownership.
He has never voted to raise congressional pay.
He has never taken a government-paid junket.
He has never voted to increase the power of the executive branch.

To Whom it may concern.

I have been a member of the republican party since I could vote, before that I was a member of the young republicans. Which, may not sound that uncommon, however I bucked family convention to do so. I voted for Bush during both of his terms, despite my opposition of the war. All along, I keep hoping and praying that the republican party would return to a party of low taxes, balanced budgets, low spending, and supporting my Christian values.
Instead, government spending is out of control, social security is still in jeopardy, the borders have not been secured, and millions of individuals are grappling with AMT. The current administration and many republicans have betrayed the republican party. As a result, Democrats have won sweeping victories across this country over the last 4 years.
Today, the parties front runner is more of the same. A liberal republican, that is weak on true conservative values, my values. I believe this accrued in party because, in many states non party members we allowed to vote in our primary. Secondly, our party allowed the media to determine our candidate, by excluding candidates from debates and coverage.
I will not vote for McCain, if he is our nomination. I expect the party to support all of the candidates running during the primary's, and I don't think its unreasonable to expect that only party members choose our candidate. I pray that our party return to our values and dump McCain and support Huckabee or Ron Paul or any other real conservative candidate left.

God bless

Dear GOP,

I'm a Cuban-American Republican from Miami, FL.
I'm a strident anti-socialist, and envision the GOP in three ways:
I believe in a Small Federal Government, Free Markets, and Liberty...
These are the principles we GOP members stand for, and I'm proud of that.

So, what happened? There are three candidates left.

Here are my choices.

Ron Paul, a throw back to Goldwater or Taft.
Ok. Not bad. Though not perfect, Paul is good on economics.
I think he has a solid plan to reduce the deficit and the debt.
He's definitely not perfect, but let's take a look at the other two.

Mike Huckabee, a social conservative populist.
A populist in the GOP?
This guy does NOT know a thing about fiscal conservatism.
If the evangelical movement moved to the Democratic Party,
I think Huckabee would fit in great.
He's almost John Edwards... no thank you.

And...The "frontrunner" John McCain...
Not even a conservative...in any way.
Not good on economics (I'd say terrible).
Not good on illegal immigration. (Terrible).
Not good on gun control.
Not good on limiting federal programs (I'd say terrible, again)
---There is no way that I will support or even vote for John McCain.
---Ever.

So, fellow Republicans... I have to say.
If John McCain is the nomination, the GOP has lost it's way.

Thanks for reading.

Fellow Republicans,

I am currently watching the GOP implode upon itself and, frankly, I am disgusted. I am disgusted that the party of Ronald Reagan and Barry Goldwater, the party I have aligned myself with for many years, is destroying itself by anointing a liberal senator, that could just as easily run on a democratic ticket, as the nominee for the President of the United States.

Moreover, this is being done in the name of conservatism. There is NO conservatism that amounts to anything more than a hill beans about John McCain. This man is an angry, resentful old man that is out of touch with the mainstream conservative world view. He has proven himself delusional and deceitful on many occasions over the past year alone.

For some reason that I cannot understand completely (although I have some ideas), the GOP apparently does not wish to win the general election in November. Sen McCain CANNOT win. He has alienated the GOP base, as well as personally attacked and ridiculed the newest members of the GOP that support the only true conservative in this race, Dr. Ron Paul.

The GOP needs to know, in no uncertain terms, that the vast majority of these voters will in NO WAY cast a vote for Sen. McCain. With Ron Paul's estimated national support of 6%, this fact alone will destroy his candidacy. Add in a very conservative estimate of 30-40% of the republican base that will not cave in on there principles and vote for him...he does not stand a chance at winning this general election.

I am very dismayed that I will be a citizen once again that is under the liberal finger of a democratic administration.

I remain a republican, but I will NOT be placing a vote for Sen. McCain. Be prepared to swallow a very bitter pill.

Sincerely,
Oak Ridge, TN

I've had one positive response, and several other respectful ones from high-up GOP muckey-mucks here in my state. I'm impressed. I didn't even respect any replies.

I basically let them know what a shame it is that they have wasted their opportunity to embrace new members of their party like myself.

So many of us didn't even know what true conservatism is, have been awakened, and now the GOP lets us know they are no longer associated with it. So many of us would stay, but will be leaving possibly as soon as the general election. What a shame.

Don't leave. Stay with us that are staying. We're stronger united.

I can keep supporting true conservative princles without a party that doesn't seem to care about them. I will support future Ron Paul Repubicans, I will always support this movement, but I will just as soon vote for a Democrat if he cares about the Constitution, peace, etc.

I truly hope the fight to restore the GOP succeeds, but I am by no means loyal to the party at the moment. How can I be loyal to a party that promotes war and big government?

The GOP has done nothing but laugh at Paul and his message of true conservatism. They really dropped the ball because their image is so negative with younger voters, they are so desperate for new members and now they have turned their back on us. We are taught growing up that conservatives are nothing but Bible pounding elites; now we have finally been awakened and they don't seem to be interested!

Obviously only the people can decide the candidate, but they could have at least shown some respect for Paul's mesage.

Laughing at us\ignoring us was no way to greet new members.

That's why we are trying to replace them here. I'm glad you will continue to support Ron Paul Republicans too.

Being in the party, and loyal to the "current regime" are too different things. I think if this election goes as the pundits are predicting - Obama vs McCain for an easy Obama victory that makes them easy for the takeover.
