Please recommend a movie I can watch!!

If you're in more of a suspense mood, North by Northwest can't be beat. Or, if you want a great "liberty movie" that will hype you up, check out the John Adams miniseries.

By the way...My philosophy is that if you can see a trace of color on the screen, or clearly decipher the dialogue over a sea of crackles and pops, you're not watching an old movie. :D

Tron

Tron itself suffers mostly from very dated special effects and terminology, but it has some nice observations on politics, religion, freedom of information, freedom in general, morality, and any number of other subjects. Not bad for being an almost disposable '80s movie.

An amazing movie - for Disney.

Kirk

Lonely are the Brave
(great freedom theme and kirk Douglas to boot)

I went through a phase where I was addicted to old movies from the 80s and beyond. Seemed like a magical time. I hope I am wrong but I don't think the New Tron will bring the heart of the original kitsch.

That's why I stick to Finnish, Icelandic, and Norwegian black thrash metal :p
80's? Like Repo Man and Brazil (which has a Sam Lowry- not a Josh!), Buckaroo Bonzai- or Breakfast Club (actually 16 Candles was much better than the Breakfast Club).

Kludge-approved. (Admittedly, I wished for a more sadistic ending, but.... wuddya gonna do, eh?)

I'm with you there. If you are in the mood for sadistic, I suggest watching the movie I first suggested in this thread. they don't get much better in that regard.
