Ok this first actually started started last year after as we all mistakes, a phone call called me claiming to be master card i as foolish i gave the fraudsters my every detail about where i live and my credit card information and as i did my bank called me the second alerting me that someone has tried to buy something costing 500 American dollars.

And these fraudsters they gave me there phone number, and as fool i called them and i guess i kinda pissed them off (Sorry for the word) and a week later another phone call a lady speaking in a Indian (From India) voice with broken English, actually phoned me and said the following.

Unknown Caller:Sir You Have a Computer Virus in Your Computer
Me: Say What? Ugh?
Unknown Caller:You Have a Computer Virus in Your Computer

Me:How The Freaking hell you know that?
Unknown Caller:a Computer Virus in Your Computer, please download our software.

Me: Are you with Microsoft? Ok Thank You Bye.

Yeah after that i figured that in myself (Wait a min! that's no Microsoft that's the hacker calling?) (WTF) I quickly rushed back to my room where to the point that i knew.

Oh no my computer is acting all strange! i couldn't edit nor save the files that i was working on, it seems the hacker locked it up somehow through a proxy means.

And this first hacker attack happened last year.

And now it happened again the second attack on 2012 April 1 11:55 pm or something in between.

Here's the link to my blog explaining a few more details.

Thank you everyone, and pray for my safety.

The good news they dont know how i look like, the bad news

They already had the information about when they phoned me! and i even asked where the heck did you find the information on about me? i got no response.

Another thing i forget to mention the virus my PC is been used a Spam Service? and claims i could get sued! :(

I sympathize with your plight and I get that you posted this in GRC to get some visibility, but wouldn't you be better off posting this in a computer forum?

Also, a simple solution to your problem is to backup your most sensitive files on an external drive, format your local Hard Drive and reinstall Windows. Then don't forget to run a virus / spyware scan on that drive once you plug it back in.

-Call a police. Hacking is a crime. There are units specialized in these kind of things. This will also give you some protection in case there is a lawsuit you mentioned(it wasnt you you did everything you could to stop it).
I am not an expert but:
-call your internet provider and demand that they change your ip adress.
-do you have firewall and antivirus?
-do you have superantispyware?
-do you have Malwarebytes Anti-Malware?
-do you have any other protective software?
if not install them and run them. All of them you can find for free.

In our office it is standard practice to scan PC for trojans, woms and viruses every few weeks...in case of hack attack turn off router or plug out internet cable (doh).

If you can, download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Free version and save it to your desktop (don't select run when downloading).
www dot malwarebytes.org/ < hopefully you understand what I mean there. I am new here and can't post a direct link until I have at least 3 post on these boards.
If you can't download it on your PC because of the virus, use someone elses computer to download it and burn it to a disk.
Start your computer in Safemode (hold F8 key when it is booting up). Do not select with network access or anything at the screen that will come up, just Safemode.
Run the Malwarebytes installer and then uncheck Look for Updates (or something like that, you won't have internet access at this point, so don't try to update, yet) and then run the program. Hopefully it will run okay. There are some viruses that won't allow it to run, even in Safemode. For most you can though and it will remove them.
Once it is done, you can reboot into normal mode Windows and then run the Malwarebytes updater. Scan again at this point (I would again boot into safemode before running the program again, just to be sure there is nothing related to the virus still around and running).

I do not work for them, but do suggest you buy the program, if it works for you. Two reasons for this. It is a great program that doesn't cost much and it will run realtime to protect your PC and is very lite (not bloated like may antivirus software are).

I hope this helps and good luck :)

If you are sure the people who called you are the same people who stole your credit card info you should call the credit card fraud dept and give them the info. Also I don't know of any virus you can get on your pc without either opening an infected email, clicking on a bad link or downloading one.

The police are not going to do anything. You are also not being hacked by a Phone Ping Hack Attack (there is no such thing).

The first time you were called, you were right that you should not have given up your info.

The second time you called, they were just trying to get you to download and install their malware on your computer. Them telling you that you already had a virus, and that their download would get rid of it was just a way to get you to install what they had. Hopefully you didn't download it.

The malware you found on your computer were totally unrelated to the phone call, and pure coincidence. Half of all internet connected computers are infected with malware. Usually spread through opening email attachments and web browser attacks.

But it's just a common scam. You are not under attack by the mafia or anything. Just don't give out sensitive info to random strangers, regardless of who they say they are.

edit - also, you really need to completely reformat your computer and reinstall windows. Back your photos etc to CD or flash drive, and then use the recovery cd/instructions that came with your computer. Make sure to completely erase everything, and install windows fresh (don't try to "fix" your windows installation)

this.

also, why the hell did you post this in grassroots central? this is off-topic material.

Low level format your hard drive but make sure you have your windows install disk ready.

Call your credit card company ASAP!, explain the situation to them, and have a new card issued.

I would say they got your phone number also, so have your number changed, along with your IP.

I got the virus a few times where I go on a website, it downloads and installs automatically, and then I'm getting windows notifications telling me I have a virus, and the program telling me so, is the virus itself, it usually disables my ability to delete files, so I just go into safe mode open up the temp folder delete the program and any files it installed, and it's usually fine.

You hardly will ever be hacked or given a virus if you didn't bring it on your self like going to an illicit website that autodownloads it, or maybe downloading a program that turned out to be a virus yourself.

In anycase there's a lot of freeware you should always run to take care of viruses and malware, and maybe you want to spend the few bucks on a professional antivirus program like norton.

The call is just a scam. Theres nothing they put on the machine (afaik).
A Safe mode scan with malwarebytes should take care of the situation.
Oh, and get your cards cancelled/replaced.

It'll also help to create a Google Voice number and always give that out instead of your real number.

go post at techsupportforum and follow their instructions to clean your computer. Or take the easy way out and format your drive and reinstall everything.

Yeap, that should take care of it just fine.
Really no need to format and reinstall windows to get rid of malware.
No need for Norton either, as it is really bloated to begin with and is expensive, with yearly update fees. Marketing is what made them so big, not that they actually have a better product than others.

Buying Malwarebytes Pro will allow you to run it realtime, rather than just as a remover. Running realtime it will catch most anything before it installs, like the fake virus that tries to get you to buy the remover, etc. It runs using very little resources and does an excellent job. It is very inexpensive too, $24.95 for lifetime license per computer.
And again, I don't work for them or make anything off of their sales. I just find their product to be one of the best available, a fair price and no extra cost to you.
The free version is fine too, but will not run realtime (it does include a 14 day free trial of the realtime protection offered in the Pro version though).
