Planned Parenthood

Wouldn't it be more appropriate for them to call themselves UNPLANNED Parenthood? Birth control and abortions? These people arent planning to become parents.

Or "AVOIDING Parenthood at The Expense of Others" :D

I think they do offer services for pregnant women (besides abortion) ;)

The only reason the private care was so shitty was because the medical system in the US is the worst of both worlds. What years of government regulation has done is basically to castrate the good market forces while preserving the bad socialist forces. A free market healthcare system would probably provide birth control as cheaply if not cheaper than PP currently does.

my one and only planned parenthood experience went like this: (and has nothing to do with the facility itself)

I took my little sister in for birth control and there was a young (sorta trashy looking) girl standing at the counter. She was looking fairly agitated and it looked as though the lady was trying to explain something to her that she didn't understand. All of a sudden the girl starts raising her voice and says "I want to speak to your manager"

So another lady comes out and was very patiently trying to make the girl happy, and the girl yells out "I don't understand what the problem is, i have come in here 4 times in the last month and never had this problem" The manager said "miss I am sorry but it is company policy we have a maximum on the morning after pill"

apparently this girl (who appeared 16 or 17) was looking for her 5th morning after pill in one month and just couldn't understand why they wanted her to get on birth control instead :D

sad sad

I totally forgot I posted this. Nice responses.
I expected to get more negative comments than I did.

In response to those that say you are paying for me to get health care I will say this:
If you were in poor health, would you, just to save face and keep your pride, stay sick and possibly die out of principle or would you go do whatever necessary to keep healthy?
Not to say I was in that bad of a situation but surely I am going to keep myself healthy.
Plus, my tax dollars pay for it also. Anyone can go there regardless of income. A lot is also private donations. They sure can compete with private practice as far as quality goes.

As for the eugenics comments I will leave them alone until I see with my own eyes the ghost of Margaret Sanger running around urban areas sticking unsuspecting minorities with needles filled with aids.

Funny story Roxi! A lot of the patrons there did not seem to bright when I went either. Morning after pill is supposed to be a painful experience too! 5 in a month! They force your period, I don't even see how that is possible to need so many!

I went. I never will again.

Firstly, I waited in a crowded room with tons of nasty teen moms and their screaming babies. The, I went down a hall and had to change into a gown in a room with no seats or anything, and was more like a closet. Then, I went through the door to a patient room where the doc examined me. It was painful, and unfriendly, took MUCH less time than a private doctor I had been seen by previously, did not care about my comfort, and later, I bled for two weeks.

After calling and complaining, the doctor explained that, "I must understand, she isn't used to coming into contact with girl's that can't handle that type of thing."

It was horrible and disgusting, and I have NEVER seen a nice one.

There went my corn flakes.

Hey, that lady parts doctor was rough on me wobbly bits.

Did you read the original post? LOL

She asked if anyone had had a bad personal experience at the planned parenthood... did you wander in here hoping for a boob self check picture from every female? :D

Crazy ass.

Everyone else talked about how it's a waste of tax dollars or that a lot of the people that go in there are just dumb. Then you turn around and talk about vaginal bleeding while I'm eating corn flakes.:D

Sorry.

When folks say personal, I take it at face value. I said something that happened personally that warped my opinion of PP.

I really am sorry....I didn't want to gross you out- it's much funnier when you *mean* to. :(
