Plane crash kills son of Oklahoma Sen. Inhofe

If that were the case, the plane wouldn't be certified as airworthy. I believe, since I have never heard of such a thing.

And with good reason. There are many aircraft engines powerful enough for one to power an aircraft that size. On this aircraft, emergency redundancy is the whole reason that aircraft has more than one engine.

Do the sins of the father carry over to the son?

No. But the son can certainly serve as an indication of the father's attitudes, because fathers do teach their sons. And the fact is that this person, who does seem to have been a better and more useful man than his father, seems to have learned some of his father's general contempt for listening to those who know better than they do. It shows all through the senator's entire career, as well as in his own flying habits. And if the good doctor (may he rest in peace) refused to learn the unique characteristics of the MU-2 even though he owned and flew one, that seems indicative that he was taught some of this same arrogance.

Which was all I was trying to say.

Since he was a US senators son and probably had influence on him....Was he doing anything to change the heart and mind of his corrupt politician father who voted to extend the Patriot Act?
Senator Inhofe was recently on C-SPAN's Washington Journal... he was a complete Authoritarian Ass to all the callers challenging him everything from the Patriot Act, NDAA, Wars, to supporting Apartheid Israel. He was rude and basically didn't care what people called him out upon..

I presume Karma

All of that is presumption.

WHERE does it indicate that the son "seems to have learned some of his father's general contempt for listening to those who know better than they do."

I know many people who are NOTHING like their parents and to make these kinds of assumptions, over someone people here know NOTHING about, says a whole lot more about the assumers than the dead man.

Just sayin'.

And your statements here are pretty presumptuous too...

Show me where it says that he didn't obey instructions.

Posted in the thread already.
A design feature of the MU-2 is its high cruise speed while having a low landing speed. This is accomplished by using full-span, double-slotted flaps on the trailing edge of the wing. These flaps give the MU-2 a wing area comparable to a Beech King Air in landing configuration while having a wing area comparable to a light jet while in cruise mode. The full-span flaps meant that over-wing spoilers were employed instead of conventional ailerons. These spoilers are highly effective, even when the MU-2 wing is stalled. Some fatal accidents have occurred because normal engine-out procedures for light twin aircraft are not effective when flying the MU-2. The commonly taught procedure of reducing flap following an engine failure on take off leads to a critical reduction in lift in the MU-2 due to the highly effective double-slotted flaps. When pilots were taught to retain take-off flap and to reduce climb rate in the event of an engine failure, MU-2 accident rates reduced to almost nil.

"Spinning in" impact suggests that he did not follow instructions.
( although other causes are possible,, they are also less likely)

That plane can land with one engine or Glide with none.

I understand the instructions but it doesn't prove the pilot was a butt who thought he knew better than everyone else.

The MU2 has a record of accidents and is known to take 150% of a pilot's attention in a hazardous situation. With one engine out it can be quite dangerous for even a pretty skilled flyer.

Maybe the guy did have an ego from here to Jupiter, or maybe he wasn't paying close enough attention, or maybe he had a heart attack. The thing is that NO ONE REALLY KNOWS and I find it appalling at the judgement heaped on a dead man because no one likes his father.

There is an old saying,, "the nut doesn't land far from the tree".
Yes there are exceptions,, but it is commonly true.
People pick up habits from parents.

And yes it is an assumption in this case,, I don't know the guy.

I feel sorry for his son, but honestly, I don't feel any more sorry for him than I do for any of the Filipinos or any one else who died today.

Senator Inhofe is an awful human being, and Coburn pretty much sucks too. My old representative Tom Cole is shit as well. I'm so glad I moved out of Oklahoma, besides South Carolina, that state breeds the worst Republicans in the country. Complete and total MIC hacks, very supportive of the welfare-state, and also mixed with extreme social conservatism.

Understood- I have a family friend in the Philippines who has been found safe- and I am very grateful.

Just have never understood personal attacks and innuendos showing such a lack of love and empathy for one's fellowman- especially when no one even knows him.

Perhaps because if it had been Joe Shmo the used car salesman that had crashed a plane,,it wouldn't have gotten any more than one paragraph on a back page of the local fish wrapper.

I don't know what his altitude was when the trouble started, but if he was above 12 thousand (10 if he was a smoker) and he lost pressure, he could have had hypoxia.

What makes him an aweful human being? Do you just designate that label to anyone you don't completely agree with politically?

He was involved in the cover up of Iran Contra,, and impeded questioning and investigation at that time.
That is my first memory of him,, I'm pretty sure a list of offenses could be compiled.

I'm sure a list of offenses could be compiled for all of us as human beings. I'm pretty sure that none of us have lived a perfect life and have never done anything wrong.

The investigation results were released yesterday--a week and a half before the election, which is interesting timing. The younger Inhofe was attempting to land the airplane on one engine. There was nothing wrong with either engine.
