Plainclothes Police Snipers on Rooftops at Keene NH PumpkinFest

In a system where a sheriff and his deputies were accountable to the people there would be no one able to work "undercover" because everybodies face, address and children would be known.

Imagine that, accountability to those who pay you.

Yep.

The vast majority of undercover is for drugs and prostitution. Eliminate that and you'd have a tiny percentage working on other things. Those other things are generally solved from tips and people actually working. They are not solved from a bloated government entity of losers who still think it's cool to where your decoder ring as a an adult.

The fact that "people" have accepted masked/unknown/unaccountable cops to even exist speaks volumes.

And for the cops, do you wonder why it is your children are afraid to tell kids at school what you do? Why must your phone number and address be unlisted? If your chosen profession were truly honorable why hide it?

I'd wager that 90+% of people in any given county have no idea of who their sheriff is, what he looks like or care to know.

Several Injured As Students At Keene Pumpkin Festival Clash With Police
October 18, 2014 5:05 PM

KEENE, N.H. (AP/CBS) — Several people were injured and about a dozen were arrested as crowds of students clashed with police in riot gear Saturday at a New Hampshire pumpkin festival.

About 30 people were injured as hundreds of students threw beer cans and bottles at police and ripped up street signs, fire officials said. Police used pellets and pepper spray to disperse the crowds gathered for the Keene Pumpkin Festival near Keene State College.

Keene State College President Anne Huot said in a statement that the school will hold involved students responsible for their behavior.

“Despite the concerted efforts of organizers, city officials, police, and Keene State College, there continued to be disruptive behavior at parties in multiple locations around the city, injuries, and property damage,” Huot said. “We deplore the actions of those whose only purpose was to cause mayhem.”

Huot said that the school and local officials need to work together to make sure future festivals are not spoiled.

Young liberals and statists from CT and Mass aren't able to get into most of the schools there. They are accepted at KSC. Last year, there was a TV reality show about the Keene Pumpkin Festival so all of the liberal out-of-state friends of the liberal college students wanted to come up and be a part of history.

Would this have happened if marijuana was legal? Most likely not. Liberals cause a circle of problems that will continue unless libertarians step-up and solve the problems.

Video of the out-of-staters acting crazy and the police responding in a perhaps reasonable way. It is annoying because these folks from CT/Mass are allowed to come here and increase my taxes!

There are so many possible solutions. Allow the landlords to kick the folks out. Increase the out-of-state tuition rates. Increase the standards for the out-of-state students. Maybe privatize the school? Legalize marijuana. The list goes on.

^^ Abolish government aid for student loans.

The images I've been seeing today of pumpkinfest sure seem different than last year's. I guess I didn't realize that a raging college party was part of it with those huge crowds throwing shit. Last year it seemed to me like it was a simple town festival.

This is really about getting Keene residents to accept the bearcat / police militarization. Connect the dots.

There was a lot of opposition to Keene getting a bearcat, but the city did it anyways:

A controversial issue was settled in Keene on Thursday night as the City Council moved forward with plans to use more than $250,000 worth of federal money to buy an armored police vehicle. The city voted to accept the money in December and upheld that decision in the face of intense public pressure.

When the city first applied for the BearCat the activists were part of a movement to collect hundreds of signatures in an attempt to stop the city council from accepting the vehicle, he said.
When Keene residents opposed the acquisition of the BearCat, a representative from Lenco Armored Vehicles, the company that makes the BearCat, was brought in to "save the sale," Freeman said, by meeting with city councilors.

Since the bearcat is unpopular in Keene, it's purchase needed to be justified. So agent provocateurs were brought in from out of town, this incident wasn't caused by the residents of Keene:

Keene State College reported Saturday afternoon that based on the fact that the Pumpkin Festival typically draws thousands of visitors, it is likely that a majority of the people involved are not students.
In Keene, the community has been debating the issue since 2012 when the department used a federal grant to get an armored military vehicle. While some argue that having such equipment is counterproductive to maintaining good relations between the department and the people it serves, others say an incident like the one on Saturday is exactly the reason you need military equipment on the streets.

Keene State College also issued a statement putting the bulk of the blame on “out-of-town visitors” who had come into the city for the pumpkin festival.

I would chip in for up close drone surveillance of plain clothes snipers.

Technically, none of the crazy stuff happened at Pumpkin Fest. That was in the college part of the city. So the families didn't see it unless they went to the college housing or at least right next to it. A lot of people are really annoyed at these liberal pricks. I predict there will be massive changes or the event won't happen next year. That's not so bad as the event is used as a way to giver government worker's overtime bonus pay. There are plenty of other Pumpkin events in NH, anyway.
