OREM — U.S. Congressman and former Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul will speak at Utah Valley University on Thursday.

The event, which was organized by the Young Presidents Organization, is scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m. at the UCCU Center. Doors open at noon and students with UVU ID will get priority seating.

It is Paul's first visit to Utah since 2007, when he visited the state as part of his campaign for the 2008 presidential election.

Paul is a three-time presidential candidate — running as a Libertarian in 1988 and a Republican in 2008 and 2012 — and longtime member of the Texas federal delegation. He is also the author of several books, including "Liberty Defined," "End the Fed" and "A Foreign Policy of Freedom."

I've been looking forward to this for awhile. It's going to be awesome to finally get to hear Dr. Paul speak in person! He's America's last true statesman.

I agree! I was at the UCLA rally (see my avatar) and it was fantastic!

I will say I think he SPEAKS better to smaller crowds, he seems to do a double take when the crowd roars and he doesn't get into the nuts and bolts as much, although he did in Texas, even at the large ones, so maybe it was just UCLA that had that effect....

But it was wonderful being amongst so many like minded folks cheering him on!

Please take pictures!

And welcome to the forums!

Pics, anyone? He's going to start speaking soon. @Sailingaway - yep I have the Liberty Tree from UCLA as one of my fb profile pics. Beautiful picture. Hoping the college kids keep the liberty movement going. It's soooo needed!

I agree - it's truly an amazing experience being surrounded by a thousand plus folks of similar political persuasion. The deafening chants of "President Paul!" are something to experience...

Ron Paul is at my school. Consequently, so is half of Provo. I hate you all.

Someone just tweeted thanks to him for speaking so I'm assuming it is wrapping up. Hoping we get some pics or video soon.

Um... not quite the picture I had in mind:

woot! The person who took the picture and another who posted this at Daily Paul said this was before it filled and by the end it was full to the back, not sold out, but no empty sections. The top of one's range and the bottom of another's was 4000.... the place seats 8000

Nice Crowd!

I assume that this was different than his stump speech; anyone know the topics, duration, format, etc.? I wonder if he is discussing the presidential race?

Here's an interesting post on the thread on this at daily paul:

I sent this to Carol Paul today.

She said that Ron is very busy selling the DC condo, and shutting down 3 offices. He's hoping to make a farewell address to Congress, and that if they don't let him, he'll just put it out as a written statement. I told her that Congress HAS to let him speak, and that when we know the time & date, the gallery will be filled to the rafters with his supporters.

I would love to be there for that, but I live too far.....
