I agree that phoning Fox all at once is a good idea, but not with the deliberate intention of knocking out their service.

it was misreported in the Associated Press; the forum was canned weeks ago. Lots of misinformation going on. See the Fox News thread on the main page for deets.

the NOLAN blog article is the misinformation. They are confused about the Debate that WAS canceled, whereas this is the Forum which is excluding RP

So you would rather sit back and watch our country be sold to the highest bidder with contracts and false media?

No, ....Just give HQ and NH a day or so to investigate, speak to Fox, and clear the BS.

We should be focusing on Canvassing and Getting the Vote out.

Don't Prove Them Right!

On December 29th, 2007 NinerSevenTango says:
Fox News wants to paint all Ron Paul supporters as loonies, outsiders, fringe, kooks, whatever.

DO NOT give them ammunition to fire at the campaign in the days leading up to these crucial primaries.

WE NEED to be able to let the world point at FOX as the foolish ones overplaying their hand. WE NEED the world to see that FOX is trying to squash the constitutional and pro-freedom message.

WE ARE BEING WATCHED. HERE. NOW.

A very old tactic, used by organizations around the world, is to infiltrate a group, find its most unstable and gullible members, and provoke them into doing something completely off the wall. Don't allow yourself to be turned into a 'lone gunman', or part of a 'mob'!

This is crucially important right now.

If we have logic, reason, and truth on our side, now is the time to demonstrate that.

Remember that evil springs from impotence. The impotence of their philosophy is their weakness. They are afraid of the freedom message, and would like to get some of us to discredit it, preferably by an attack on them. Their fall from grace will be from a greater height if it is by their own actions. If they exclude Dr. Paul from their forum, it discredits them, not us or Dr. Paul. Disrupting their forum will only give them an excuse to discredit us and rally their audience in their defense.

It could cost us the election.

Use reasonable, peaceful means to express your displeasure, but please, please, do not hand FOX a gun to shoot us with!

If anyone causes a disruption at that event, the commentary will be all about the kooks who support Dr. Paul (and they will drag up every kook they can think of). They will spin on ad nauseum about how dangerous a grass roots campaign is, how incompetent Dr. Paul is for not controlling his supporters like the others, how the neocons were right about the backlash against the state being a threat of homegrown terrorism, plus whatever else they can think up. Their tactic will be to paint Dr. Paul as 'unpresidential'.

They are searching for anything negative to report about the campaign, because they cannot win any arguments against following the constitution.

Please don't sabotage the campaign!

FOX News comes from the viewpoint that supports measures to enact police state powers. All they need now is a visible demonstration to prove their point that freedom-lovers are unstable wackos who can't be trusted with their freedom.

Thanks for reading this far, and sorry for disagreeing with your last point, Michael.

Respectfully,

Perhaps my intent was lost in all of this. If enough phone calls are generated that their phones are completely tied up, it will show Fox that the blow back of their actions is more than they bargained for. Their concession in the form of including RP in the debates is the sole goal of the phone blitz.

Also, the calls should be made in a professional manner. We should not look like a bunch of loose cannons.

OK. I can agree with your revised intentions. I share this objective.

Its amazing to me to see how brainwashed people can be...

So afraid of the government we are trying to change...

If our forefathers had been so concerned about what-ifs, we would still be part of Great Britain.

I'm concerned that so many RP supporters don't understand what the freedom they are supposedly fighting for actually means.

Yes, we need to fight and end this tyranny!!! First by using all means that are non-violent!!!

Other means can be explored later if necessary!

Not to split hairs, but this was always my intention. Tying up their phone lines was not meant to harass them... I could give a good damn about them, what they think, or if we piss them off. I only care about getting RP on the debate stage. Having phone calls in a quantity sufficient to completely tie up their lines would be the kind of pressure needed to accomplish that goal. They simply must realize that they have come up against a force that they cannot bully.

Is there a lawyer in the house?

I agree that a phone bomb could be misconstrued and there could be some blowback. I prefer to error on the side of caution on this particular matter. I would not be part of a phone bomb.

But more importantly, I believe a concerted effort to disrupt or disable another party's communication is illegal. I am NOT (repeat NOT) an attorney but this has been mentioned in the past (hazy memory syndrome.) It is akin to launching a bot attack or crashing someone's web site. As conditions are applied to Fox (let Dr. Paul on your show, or else) it could be construed as extortion.

Is there a lawyer in the house? Can you help us out on this one? Excellent chance that I am wrong once more but you might tread cautiously on this matter.

I just had to take a break from all this... so I watched V for Vendetta. Lets do this. This our chance. Whoever shows up shows up, whatever happens happens. I dont care anymore about what people think about "us." Please post the thread that says when, who, where...

I understand. My point is mainly that a grassroots effort that seems malicious in its intent WILL be spun, by Fox News, into something it isn't -especially if it hurts them.

I think the poll was mislabeled, and your true intentions did not come across clearly in your first post. That was my reason for changing my vote, and voicing my opinion.

I don't care about Fox in the least. I do, however, care for keeping a positive image in our grassroots efforts. A positive image can only be kept if our intentions are crystal clear.

If Fox's phone-lines are overloaded by our calls of honest concern, so be it - as long as it is not our stated intention to crash the lines. We are merely doing our civic duty to ensure that a fair election is maintained.

This is a tactic used by tons of grassroots organizations and is extremely effective (see the stopping of amnesty from earlier this year). I just urge people to be polite with the people who answer the phones as they are just working an 8-5 job and have no say over anything really.

Also depending on how the call tree is set up if the operator is clogged already you could dial a random extension and then have them transfer you to the correct department.

It's immature, counter productive, and will ensure some very negative publicity.

An illegal, DOS attack on fox's phone network? Come the fuck on, use some common sense....

If we are going to do this, we might as well break into the homes of Fox network execs, and rape their children, and wives, or maybe burn down their houses after we rape them!!! Oooh I know, how bout a dirty bomb in times square!!!!

Seriously, what the fuck message do you want to send here? A message of peace, freedom and maturity, or a message of home grown terrorism. I am starting to think they are right, after watching the children on here behave like this.

Are you serious??? Negitive publicity? So Fox will go on the air to bitch about us calling to bitch about them?

Rape!?! Burning down houses? Maybe you are some kind of freak but I don't think anyone else here is suggesting committing crimes. What is wrong with you?

Are you Glenn Beck?

Some after thoughts

Somethings that were said by jeff_from_VA and others have been haunting me for a while. Specifically, there were comments stating that an organized barrage of phone calls intending to tie up Fox's phones was "illegal" and "improper". "How could we suggest such a crazy action?"

I just viewed the video posted in this section of the forum about Ralph Nader's exclusion from a Fox debate. The goons from Fox and the Debate Commission had the balls and the horsepower to misuse the State Police to threaten Nader with arrest if he tried to enter the debate even though he had a ticket. The cop treated Nader like he was a common criminal.

I challenge anyone to view that video and then tell us that our intended actions are "over the top". It is time to wake up to the reality that our electoral process - the process that is the keystone to a free society - has been compromised. Without a free election, totalitarianism is inevitable. Its also time to wake up and accept the fact that the clock is ticking. The Ron Paul candidacy is the best chance, and may be our last chance, to save our Republic from demise. Four more years of hyper-inflation of the dollar, imperialistic foreign policy, erosion of our rights to privacy, and the exponential growth of socialism are sure to destroy that which so many have given so much to preserve. Considering the sacrifices that so many have made for our freedom, supporting a phone blitz against Fox is a very small thing to ask.

Using last month's casualty count (41 American soldiers dead) as a monthly average, four more years in Iraq will take almost 2,000 more soldiers' lives.

In view of all of this, I have no respect for the "candy asses" who are too afraid to make phone calls because of some remote chance that such action could be construed as "illegal". I risked a Hell of a lot more when I served in the Air Force.

USAF Vet Dan just RWNED the whole forum. Im gonna go make me some calls now.

oh wait this is illegal? wha? can anyone clarify exactly how this is illegal?

It would be illegal if you called the same number repeatedly for the purpose of harassment or were abusive to the recipient of the call.

There is a large list of numbers to call. If each supporter called each number, once, or until they the are connected to a person or a voicemail box (be sure to leave a message), that could hardly be called harrassment. Be nice, just state your questions and concerns. Nothing illegal about that.

212-301-3300 is the Breaking News desk. Someone answered but didn't want to respond to questions...told me he is required to pass me to the viewer comments voicemail box. The word is out to stonewall.

We should take up as much of their time as possible. To do this, we should "take the long road toward our point"... that is, don't start off with "I think Fox is wrong to exclude Ron Paul..." Start with something like, "I've been watching Fox News for quite some time now because I've always sought a more conservative viewpoint and perspective of the news. I always saw it as a counterbalance to the more liberal CNN and such......" You get the point - give them an obscure introduction before you mention the main issue.

I would hold off on this until the very last moment when we are 110% sure Paul is excluded from the debate, then I would join in gladly

212-301-3301 is the Control room....the guy was saying repeatedly "I can't talk right now, we're on the air" LMAO

Count me in. I work at home so can call all day long. Wife can call all day also and we have three phone lines to utilize.

I think this is merely civil disobedience. Didn't we know we would eventually reach this point and time? The time is now. I also expect this is only the beginning. If we don't demand our rights we will loose them, it's as simple as that.

If it happens I get in trouble, I'll take my medicine, but I'll never believe I'm wrong to fight for my rights. I'm not one to usually participate in something like this, but I've had enough.
