Earlier many were posting that many people were PISSED off about multiple calls today from the campaign and its GOTV.

Did they switch because of this????

This was only a few thousand votes, and it could have been from this

So fucking pissed.

don't sweat what can't be changed. we have NO idea if that caused any issues, throwing blame around is silly. even if it did cost us votes, which is debatable and unprovable, it also may have gotten us far more votes than having never done it.

it needs to be a national effort hitting all corners of America to raise awareness, not just recyclying the same list of 5k people

yes this is possible.

the math never made sense to me.

we had people making 10,000's of calls in a very small state.

I'm sure some people got swamped

Yeah, but no one was supposed to identify as a Ron Paul volunteer until AFTER the call. So if people were picking up and immediately raging about being called, they shouldn't have known it was Ron Paul's camp. Caller ID was just "RP12" which could justas easily be Rick Perry...

So unless massive amounts of people were going off script and startng ith "hi, I'm a volunteer for ron paul..." this wasn't an issue.

Blame goes to the media... This shit with quoting polls inaccurately (ie: quote PPP one day, Rasmussen the next to support a "surge" or drop.) has a huge psychological effect, and most people are too dumb to question it.

I have no idea whether it caused a backlash or not, but consider that Rick Santorum obviously did not have any real PFH program.

PFH may be an almost complete waste of time.

There really needs to be a post-election analysis to figure out what happened and someone does need to monitor the people making the calls to giving coaching.

I'm sure Ron said he had 30,000 hard pledges.

If we learned anything, it's that Ron needs to appeal to older voters and stop relying on the unreliable.

This is incorrect. One the GOTV calls the first thing we said was we were a volunteer calling for Paul. I did it for about 3 hours today, the last hour nearly all of my calls said they had been called numerous times. Probably close to 35 people. Now none of mine were pissed, but multiple my calls by everyone doing it and I am sure we pissed off some people.

Now I am not saying that was the cause of the loss tonight, but it is an issue PFH needs to address. As someone said earlier in this thread, the math just didn't make sense. I called probably about 100 people today, multiple that by a couple thousand people doing it, and some for a lot more time than I and we could have called every person in the state that voted tonight with room to spare.

If his supporters were so weak that a couple phone calls changed their mind... then the media woulda changed it if it wasn't the multiple calls.

No. Hell no. Listen I was one of the most critical of the failed phone from home GOTV on here but still.....we lost by thousands of votes. It's not very likely that we pissed off or missed thousands of people and that we would have won otherwise.

The truth is, we didn't win over enough voters. We just didn't. We did the absolute best we could, and we did very well.

Be happy and don't stop fighting.

Huh? The fact that it could have been one other candidate is not reassuring. Considering Ron has slightly more exposure in Iowa than Rick, and his supporters are known for being gung-ho, then probably over half the people assumed it was Ron Paul's campaign.

Yeah, this might have been an issue. Can't fix it now, but you can learn from it.

OP: What do you think the other campaigns were doing? I'll tell you what they were doing: Calling to GOTV!! Duh.

Was sabotage involved with screwing the PFH system you think?

No I do not think that is the case. This is really the second time this was used, the first being KY for Rand. In the KY case the GOTV calls were being made to likely a much larger database (there were 755,000 votes for Rand), so maybe the duplicate call issue never arose.

Here in IA we were calling maybe from a list of 20,000 or so with a lot more people doing it. My guess is that the database was not dropping out people once they were called, so they were called and then put right back into the list.

The establishment gave us a nice big surge of santorum tonight. Lets clean up and get ready to fight again tomorrow.

How many calls do you think that Rick Santorum's virtually non-existent campaign structure made in the past 48 hours?

We may have lost some votes, I doubt many....PFH got us more votes than lost us. It is what it is.

If we learned anything, it's that Ron needs to appeal to older voters and stop relying on the unreliable.

Some have been saying it for a while now, and if the older voters gave John McCain the Republican nomination in 2008, I don't know why they would be ignored now.
