Schiff’s plan, if he is elected to the Senate, is to restructure the country’s economy. When guest Scott Italiaander asked him how he thought he could do it, Schiff was quick with his reply.
“I have to try,” he said. “Someone has to try.”
He outlined his ideas, which include cutting government spending, forcing the country to undergo structural reform and to eliminate goverment departments and programs that aren’t neeeded. “How can government double in size?” he asked rhetorically. “We can’t afford it. We spend $4 trillion a year to run the government. How can we continue to do that?”
Schiff also gave a warning to his listeners. “It’s going to get worse,” he said. “I want to be in the Senate when it happens, so I can help. If I can force the government to cut its spending, then eventually we can cut taxes. But we can’t do that until we cut spending. The government did this and it has to make some hard choices.”
According to his Web site, Schiff has raised more than $2 million in his campaign, and has continued to schedule public appearances and meet with state leaders to share his ideas.
