I'm not trolling I just want to know how Catholics manage with this cognitive dissonance and wh are you still proud to call yourself Catholic considering the diabolical systemic and historic abuse of children?

I expect your answer to be along the lines of, "it's not only a catholic problem , holly wood directors and Muslim leaders do it too, it happens everywhere" in which case don't bother answering.

How do fundies manage with all the sexual scandal swept under the rug in their own ranks? It's a pretty long list and getting longer.

The young ladies at the Evangelical Bible colleges were the most fun in 7 counties growing up.....

A bag of weed and a bottle of booze would get a young lad more skirt than he could handle.

In the morning they'd wipe off the make-up twist up their hair, get dressed and put on the prim-n-proper air for people like the OP...

"People" have sex, God made all of us crave affection.

Satan causes some of us to believe themselves capable of judging others....

You still seem to think there are a lot of Roman Catholics here.

Where did you get that idea?

Should a Fenian be shagging evangelicals? I'm assuming you're not a pedophile, perhaps wrongly. Kick the pope. PS: there are only 6 counties.

PS: Im sorry that you crave sexual affection from children but as long as I'm alive I'm not going to sit quietly and watch it becoming legally and socially acceptable like sodomy with out a fight. NO WAY! Satan makes people crave for evil things, not God!

From the many catholic doctrines being espoused here.

If you're talking about Eastern Orthodoxy, then what you're saying about pedophile priests doesn't apply there. If you're not, then I have no idea what you mean by "many catholic doctrines espoused here."

I have no idea what Eastern Orthodoxy even is.

I respond by saying I don't belong to any ranks. Still waiting for a response, If you are Catholic, as to how you respond?

Biblefundyfun, your characterization that Catholics have cognitive dissonance is outside the scope of this "Peace Through Religion" forum where the objective is: "Respectful discussion of religious topics and their surrounding philosophies with the primary purpose of peaceful social exchange and personal enrichment to help bring forth a better world." This is not a free-for-all to bash others religion. Your statement is also on the collectivist side as it insinuates that is something that all Catholics experience.

There are reasonable and friendly ways to have this discussion where you can seek the answers you wish, you just have to focus on bring respectful.

None-the-less, to take your statement at face value it could easily be addressed by simple observation without being a Catholic. For starters, it would be important to understand what you consider as "systemic", obviously there have been problems in the past but the issue becomes what steps have been taken to correct the problem and if they go far enough. Some people may be happy with the steps while others may not, and are fighting for further reform.

As for the "still proud" comment, I do not think that there are any outstanding people that would be proud of what happened, but that does not mean that they can't be proud of the faith of what they believe in. It is a logically fallacy to attempt to conflate these two items which you seem to be doing here. This tactic is typically done to get a rise out of people, but when it's spotted and understood it just make the person using the tactic look bad.

We can agree that it would be poor form for Catholics to blame-shift any of this issue saying it happens every where but the comments of "holly wood directors and Muslim leaders" just seems like more red meat to try to get people stirred up and is not a good way to start of a good discussion.

I hope this helps.

You're one (mod edit) who is incapable of (mod edit) aren't you?

I very clearly stated I was a young lad, in fact I happened to be in high school, mid-70's, and these fine young ladies were several years OLDER than I.

It's people like you who manage to (mod edit)

i am in no way insinuating the behaviour of the catholic priesthood equates to the behaviour of the average catholic pew warmer, I'm asking how the average catholic pew warmer processes the systemic pedophila WORLD WIDE of their despicable filthy priest hood in their minds. I thinks it s fair enough question. The RCC is the greatest reason going to reject all religion.
