Paul says he will now prioritize stopping Trump?

That just isn't going to happen. Cruz is second in IA with a 20 point lead over Rand. Polls can be wrong sure, but not that wrong.

Most of Ted Cruz supporters think he was born in the U.S. and and don't know that might not be eligible to be president. Some of that support will drop off as Trump goes after Cruz on this actual legitimate issue the same way he went after Ben Carson on pure BS.

what the fuck is "triangulating" someone?

serious question lol

In politics its when you find ways to agree with your opponent where you know they are strong then attack perceived weaknesses. For example when Rand Paul pointed out that Marco Rubio's massive proposed increase in military spending was not conservative Ted Cruz "triangulated" by claiming that he supported strong defense and fiscal responsibility by making cuts elsewhere. Actually he stole Rand's position and sadly Rand let him get away with it. It was Rand who proposed a budget that increased military spending but offset it by other budget cuts and Cruz and Rubio opposed Rand's plan.

Take him down Rand! You will have done the country a great service even if you don't win. The only thing I differ with you on is I WON"T support trump if he wins.

Paul needs not to endorse trump if he wins the nomination. Didn't he learn anything??

Yeah, I won't either. Rand knows that, he would never expect us to, and he won't either. He's been pretty clear that Trump would be a disaster.

He said that because:

A) Trump will not be the nominee.

and

B) He is right that he has to say he will "support" whoever it is because Rand will need them to support him when he is the nominee.

And by "support", he really just means not working against them in the general. It's not like he would ever speak at a campaign stop for Trump, LOL.

But he has to say the right things now in order to prevent Trump from working against him if Rand is the nominee.

Rand knows Trump won't win, making this a safe trade off.

Oh my, I have been listening to Rand's speeches of late (last night being the most recent), and he is Not At All positioning himself as spoiler! I am dumbfounded as how the Liberty lovers on this board consistently fall for the nonsense that comes from publications like Buzzfeed. For the love of Pete!
Rand HAS to make his argument against Trump because Trump is the front runner in these faux polls by a large margin. He spent several minutes discussing with the Union Leader on how the GOP is primarily responsible for his being kicked off the stage and how they tried to placate him with nonsense about getting press anyway and that it was Fox's fault. He concluded by saying that he didn't believe it and laid the blame squarely in the lap of the GOP!
Rand's position from the very beginning has been to position himself as the only candidate that can beat Hillary Clinton. To make that argument he is positioning Trump as a huge loser (I believe he said the biggest landslide in history.). He is still running in a multi-digit field in the middle bottom part of the pack. He's made it very clear that he is working toward winning first in Iowa and is long-term planning for a brokered convention where he will have a real shot at the nomination. I believe his statements indicate that He believes that Trump and the establishment will destroy the GOP and moderate Republicans might not want that to happen--they might want to keep their GOP and win the election in 2016.
I would respectfully ask the moderators to move this discussion and any future ones from Buzzfeed and/or Andrew Kycy ( however he spells his name) to the Spin Chaff and Flak board.
Thank You.

Strengthening his position in the Senate and in the party.
I predict somewhere around January 31 or so Ron Paul will go to IA. Buzzfeed is nonsense, put out hate for Rand since the beginning, and I believe they fear him because he could beat both Hillary and Bernie and they know it.

And as memory serves, he endorsed Romney but didn't work real hard for him. He and Mitch did one stop when Romney came to Ky.

Unfortunately it seems that every time you attack Trump he grows stronger.

I mean, just see Nikki Haley's response to the SOTU address, specifically, her reference to "angry voices." Trump immediately fired back that he *IS* angry. In other words, he accepted the label and wore it as a badge of honor, and *poof*, up goes his support.

Of course, that was probably the easiest softball pitch that Haley could have thrown Trump. People are damn tired of being accused of being 'angry' as if it were a flaw. Who wouldn't be angry given the state of affairs in this country?

His next move will be to take Iowa.

I think so, and I think Ron will help him.

I don't see anywhere in that where he used the words that he's prioritizing taking Trump down over anything else, especially winning.

Every interview he's had he says he's "in it to win it". Seems pretty clear.
Would agree. It seems as though Buzzfeed, which has been stalking Rand in Maddowesque" fashion has some concerns of their own.
