This is what it all boils down to folks...Every candidate is going to accept matching federal funds and Paul will be at a huge huge HUGE disadvantage if he refuses them on principle. Paul's message is vitally important and if he does not to take the federal match, he will be crushed by neocon propaganda in the coming primaries.

This is a WAR for the future of our country...and to deny yourself a weapon that your enemies will be using means a guaranteed defeat. We can not let this happen.

Please write letters..send emails, and make phone calls encouraging the Paul campaign to accept the $20 million match, and to use that money to spread the message of liberty. $20 million is a drop in the bucket compared to the TRILLION dollars we will save annually if Paul is elected.

You are so right. We need to put together a petition that will go to Dr. Paul asking him to please do this for us and our Country.

We had this discussion last summer - when you were still thinking about voting for someone else, or not thinking about voting at all - and he WON'T take the money and many of us would lose our respect for him if he did and not vote for him.

I used to think matching funds would be a bad idea. Now I think you're right.

It limits what you can do with money, and a lot of candidates aren't taking it. If you support this idea, go research it, and tell us why those problems aren't.

I think he just needs to take it... better take it and at least have a chance at winning

I also thought the matching funds was a bad idea, but I think it's vital to us now if we want to win Feb 5th.

I fully support this and I hope Ron Paul does take it.

i think he should go ahead and do it. It's our tax money anyway.

You might be right. If he doesn't use it, some other fool like Giuliani or McCain WILL. OR they will send it overseas to Halliburton for some stupid war crap. Best to be used for a just cause. Plus since it is our tax money anyway, it would just be like another 20 million dollars worth of donations if we give him permission anyway. He's already earned that from the American people. I can totally understand the "principal" aspect though also....he doesn't want to waste the people's tax money on crap we dont need. BUT WE NEED HIM! Its a bit of a catch 22.

thats why libertarians are losers...

all idealism....no realism

He can use it. He uses earmarks but votes against the bills that ALLOW him to use the earmarks. This would be the same situation. His integrity is not jeopardized. Its the reality we need to face in this election that when something is being exploited by everyone else even if you're the most morale person you CANNOT win without exploiting along with them.

I think RP is in a very difficult uphill battle and maybe if he doesn't win we can at least convert some more poeple to his way of thinking and will give the movement a chance in 4 or 8 years. I don't know I'm torn.
