We currently have many Paul candidates and liberty-minded candidates running for public office here in Minnesota, and because of this, I thought it would be a good idea to let you know about a few of them and hopefully, you'll support them in some way.

If you have a Facebook account, please take the time to "like" their Facebook pages. Also, if you have the means to contribute financially, please do.

Feel free to add more candidates to this thread if you know of any others.

Thanks
- ML

Blomgren - 75% Dem
Carmack - 70% Dem
Conway - 75% Dem
Lipp - 80% Dem
Ojeda - 78% Dem

Wow, a lot of good guys in MN, good to see.
Is Marianne Stebbins going to be running for something in the near future?

But that won't stop them, right? They'll keep fighting the fight. They are putting themselves out there and trying, I still consider that a win.
You consider it a victory to lose?

If we could pick up a seat or two each election, and lose 10 of them, then yes I could perhaps agree. However, at this rate - we're not getting anywhere.

What is your point exactly Smart3? I've looked at three threads here and you happen to post on each one being a negative nancy. Perk up man.

The victory is seeing people getting involved in the process, spreading the platform, informing voters, and ultimately the end goal is winning. But there is quite a lot of stuff inbetween to get excited about.

Like RabbitMan said, It's not just winning races, it's getting the message out. Ron didn't win this time, but his message is spreading. They can't "unhear" it :) And these people are going to be involved at one level or another even if they don't win this particular battle.

Couple of things...

Bills isn't listed because he isn't running for a State position, he's running for a Federal position. I wanted to keep the list at State positions.

Did you search the other 10 candidates and see what percentage of Democrat votes there were in 2010? I'm curious.

Most states have some solidly Democratic areas. It makes sense that MN (being a solidly Democratic state) would have a bunch of such areas. It also makes sense that it would be somewhat easy for pro-liberty candidates to get on the Republican ballot in such areas. These candidates are getting their name out there by being on the ballot. Even if they lose, it helps with name recognition which might be helpful in other ways, in the future :)

Don't get me wrong, I see your point. However, you never know what could happen. I am glad that a few pro-liberty folks are running in MN, even if maybe 1/2 of them have no chance of winning.

You are aware, that every single Liberty-minded person elected so far has done so in Republican majority districts? It doesn't matter what race we're talking about.

Robyn Hamlin in Missouri's 1st district, would make an excellent Congresswoman, however, she literally will not get more than 19% of the vote. She will be forgotten, just like she was in 2010. (I hadn't even heard about her back then)

I'm a very politically-active person, and if I haven't heard about a candidate running for Congress who shares my values, it makes me wonder how many others have?
____

You're lucky enough to be from NH - over 20 people sharing our values are elected there. I'd kill to live there. I'm tired of living in North Ko... I mean California.

That is true for US House and US Senate. However, pro-liberty Republicans get elected to the NH House in Democratic districts. Heck, a pro-liberty Democrat also won in 2006 and 2008 and is likely going to win again in a Democratic district in NH. Maybe more than 1 will :)

But getting a name out their can help with other things, like state Republican convention stuff. Plus, some of these folks distribute flyers and make calls to the voters where they spread the message of liberty.

I didn't start out in NH and when I moved here, we didn't have dozen of pro-liberty elected officials. I moved here and we worked hard. It isn't about luck :) You too can move to NH :)

Don't get me wrong, I agree that you have a point. I can also see the other side of things.

Perhaps I don't have the same appreciation for electing liberty Republicans as you do, because I'm not a Republican, and because I'm from California - a state which has a Republican Party quickly dropping to 20% of registered voters. The failure of Rick Williams was very disheartening and so I've decided to leave California in the next 5 years. Just don't know where to go, none of America seems appealing, but neither does Canada or Europe.

Basically, we should be replacing 3 neo-con Republicans with 3 liberty Republicans and hopefully, the others can pull out upsets on the Democrats. When I have more time I'll analyze the older races, 2008 and before, to see if there are any districts that have been Republican in the past.

What about redistricting? In most states, the districts were changed. I don't know how redistricting is done in MN. If you really wanted to get picky, you would try to figure out what the PVI or something similar is for all of the districts. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cook_Partisan_Voting_Index

@ML
Thanks for posting the rest, I stopped prematurely to eat. I'm very happy that you bolded the R-leaning districts. You've definitely made me hopeful we can pickup at least one of those seats.

@Keith
You keep saying MN is a Dem state, yet Republicans control both Houses, and formerly had the Governorship and one Senate seat. If Paul got the GOP nomination, it's likely he could flip MN.

This site (which I'm a member of) is useful to use when looking at previous races. http://www.ourcampaigns.com/ContainerDetail.html?ContainerID=23

Melissa Valeriano, MN House 25B. Part of the 2012 MN Paul delegation in Tampa: http://www.facebook.com/melissavalerianoforhouse?ref=ts

David FitzSimmons, MN House 30B. 2008 CD6 RP coordinator engineered a near total Paul sweep in this congressional district, only Bachmann herself slipped though the Ron Paul gauntlet by 2 measly votes. His election is a near-certainty in this very red district. http://fitzforhouse.com/

Branden Petersen, MN Senate 35. Already elected to the House from that area, seeking a seat in the upper body. Elected as part of MN's RPaul contingent to Tampa. http://brandenpetersen.com

and somebody asked about when Marianne Stebbins would run... take a look through the listing of local candidates she compiled herself:
