Palin Can't Name Supreme Court Case Other Than Roe V. Wade

The interview was long, she is new to this and understandably she made a couple mistakes...just as EVERY presidential candidate has for YEARS.

She made more than a "couple of mistakes"- at times, she wasn't even coherent. If she'd just made "a couple of mistakes", people wouldn't still be talking about it. She was just bad- scary bad. Kind of "You've got to be kidding me" bad.

Also, she's not "new" at this, she's been a professional politician for 16 years now. She has surely done plenty of interviews on television and radio before, and she was prepped for days by the best the Republican Party has, which is why its so shocking that she handled it so poorly- like I said, I've seen plenty of amateur politicians, in their first time on TV do better than that.

Please enlighten us as to your identity and provide some links to media sources so we may view your national TV interview and critique.
I always enjoy watching a person own the media.

Obviously congressional debates/ interviews aren't going to be on "national" television. But whether its broadcast nationally or regionally is irrelevant- the studio is the same either way, and I assure you, I was asked more challenging questions than "what newspapers do you read?" The ability to answer questions without completely losing focus is the same.

I'm not suggesting answering questions in front of the spotlight is easy. Its not. But she's not some neophyte who's never been in front of a camera before. If she was running for city council, and she'd never been in front of a camera before, I might cut her some slack, but she's a veteran politician running for VP, and could be called upon to run the most powerful nation in the world at any time. You don't cut a lot of slack for someone who might be President in a matter of months- you have to have someone who is up to the job, and she clearly is NOT.

I get it, you are trying to make excuses for her- looking for anything to excuse her piss poor performance, but it doesn't wash. I have no idea why, though, she's running for the number 2 spot in the most powerful nation in the world, she's not some "little girl" that you need to protect. She needs to stand on her own two feet (something she so far appears incapable of doing). If she wants to run with the big dogs, she'd better stop acting like a chihuahua.

BTW, I didn't ask her to "own" anyone. I expect her to be able to answer simple questions without losing her train of thought and rambling incoherently- I don't think that is particularly unreasonable.

Why am I even concerned with the discussion of Sarah's performance?
Because this is initiated as a means to infighting and a source of distraction.
Everyone is busy discussing some bullshit interview, ramping up baloney about being a heartbeat away from POTUS (just as every goddamned VP in history has been...fucking numbskull reporters) and other bogus grasping-at-straws bullshit intended to distract us from the goal of making certain that we work against the socialist regime that is immanent if Osama is allowed to become POTUS.

I'm not sure what you mean by all this, but I hope you aren't suggesting that McWar/Palin is better than Obama/Biden, because I'm not buying it, and neither will any supporter of liberty- we shouldn't be voting for McWar or Obama- hell, not voting for Pres. is preferable to voting for them (which is what it may come down to for me since Barr seems determined to lose my vote).

Advertisements contain the only truths to be relied on in a newspaper.
Thomas Jefferson

I do not take a single newspaper, nor read one a month, and I feel myself infinitely the happier for it.
Thomas Jefferson

:D

If she doesn't read newspapers, she should have just said "I don't read newspapers."

Unfortunately, she couldn't say that since earlier she had said she got a lot of her foreign policy experience from reading books, magazines, and newspapers (as well as the fact that Alaska is close to Russia).

She BS'd her way into a corner, then wasn't clever enough to answer the obvious follow up to her BS answer.

If Katie Couric was really the tough, bulldog reporter that Palin's supporters claim she is, she would have followed up the newspaper question with "what books have you read"- because at that point, Palin looked so flustered she couldn't have responded if Couric had asked "what's your name?"

The woman is not quick on her feet, thats pretty obvious.

What does constitutional law have to do with running for vice president? That's not a requirement. The only requirements are that you are a US citizen and 35 years old. Palin is not a lawyer. This is clearly "gotcha" questions by the press to make Palin APPEAR to be uneducated. Go back and look at her in the Alaskan debates. She is confident and knowledgable. This is noting but more smear tactics from the left. I challenge any of you to spout off a string of precident setting cases from the Supreme court. I took constitutional law and I remember Marbury vs Madison but I couldnt' tell you all the details of it. 99% of you would have to google. Just STOP IT. TONES

As Bill Maher said last night on Jon Stewart,

Even the stupid people are saying: "Wow she's stupid".

She is uneducated. She is a moron. And frankly, with your misspelling of "knowledgeable" "couldn't" and "precedent" aside, you have just exposed yourself as a moron as well. Bold for relevancy.

Well, that was hardly the only question that she FAILED on. But come on, anyone who picks up a newspaper now and then, or who even took Junior High social studies ought to be able to come up with ONE.

How could an allegedly libertarian leaning, gun toting Republican not come up with DC vs. Heller (it was only about 3 months ago)?

Other obvious examples- Brown vs. Board of Education (how could anyone with any education not know that one?), Bush v. Gore (the 2000 election wasn't all that long ago), Miranda (anyone who's ever watched a cop show on TV should at least have passing familiarity with this one), Dred Scott and Marbury should be identifiable by any educated person, you don't have to be a lawyer to know those.

To be fair, however, the Supreme Court question and Palin's ensuing flame out wasn't as pathetic as her equally poor performance on some of the other tough questions- e.g. "describe your foreign policy experience" or "what newspapers do you read?" (man, thats a tough question, lol- can you imagine if Katie Couric hit her with something really hard, like "Governor Palin, what's your favorite color?"- Palin probably would have passed out and cracked her head on the floor, lol.

To be fair, Tones may have inadvertently been correct. It seems that knowledge of Constitutional Law is not relevant to a Presidential or VP candidate, since Presidents and congress no longer seem to pay any attention to the Constitution...

There are a group of autistic children I would work with at the Madison Center in South Bend, IN, who I swear to all of you, could have named at least three major Constitutional Cases besides Roe v. Wade, including Brown v Board of Education, Plessy v. Ferguson, and Marbury v Madison. Palin is exactly as advertised, an ignorant hockey mom, with a pissed off PTA side to her, and a desire to burn books. The most unqualified person in the history of the world to ever come close to leading a nation. It's a joke. A laughable, yet epic joke on humanity.

Palin is a farce of U.S. Culture and Populism.

COURIC: What is your quest?
PALIN: I seek the Vice Presidency.
COURIC: What is your favorite color?
PALIN: Blue. No yel-- Auuuuuuuugh!

VPOTUS sock puppet is a pretty "brain dead" job.<IMHO> How quick does she really need to be? ;)

There you go.

Well, you are entitled to your opinion.
If you feel that you have the correct decision in mind and feel that the third party can win, then go ahead, dilute the vote.

We've seen this pattern before, the media negates the candidates through false polls, the sheeple buy it and they are effectively forgotten.
So go ahead and vote for that person nobody heard of and retain your Nobility.
The rest of us will thank you when we are stuck in the bread line of the socialist run Obama Administration.
I'm not sure what you mean by all this, but I hope you aren't suggesting that McWar/Palin is better than Obama/Biden
I will lead with the fact that there is not one candidate in this race that has the interest of the American People in mind, in any way.
You're damned right I am suggesting that McWar/Palin is better than Obama/Biden.
and just so you are certain
I officially say that McCain / Palin is better than the Democratic option and I will clarify it for you if further explanation is necessary
This is Damage control plain and simple.
McCain will not tax us into the third world...osama will and then some, plus add MORE debt for my kids to pay.
Not on my watch.

I am not picking on you...you threw your experience out there, so own up to the claim and post links by whatever means you prefer.

and BTW the Libertarian party is NON active. They have a candidate and are not in action.
They dont want to work for it apparently.
Not one candidate sticker or sign around here...you tell me if the party is viable?

I got involved solely to get Ron Paul elected...not some schmuck alternative party that refuses to step up and make themselves known to the public.

First of all, those questions that Palin fumbled weren't Tim Russert zingers, they were simple questions.

Second, I have been on TV as a candidate for Congress, and I answered far more difficult questions than "Describe your foreign policy experience" without turning into a puddle of goo, and I have ZERO political or public speaking training (other than a little bit I got in the military), and no advisers to "prep" me (apparently, Palin was prepped for days going into that interview).

So don't make it sound like "well, anyone would have been tripped up" by those questions, because they wouldn't have been- even a decent amateur could have done a better job.

There's simply no excuse for her poor performance in any of these interviews. She's been a professional politician now for 16 years, holding 4 different positions at the local and state level, and can't even answer simple questions from little Katie Couric (not exactly known for her hardball interview style)?

What did she think Katie was going to do- ask her for her "Moose stew" recipe?

Yup, we are screwed BIG time. For the first time in my life, I don't even have a candidate I can vote for (at this point, the only candidates on the ballot in TX are Obama, Barr, and McWar).

Even the top guys mess up. Reagan over prepped for his debate against Mondale in 1984. And many of the well intentioned GOP debate coaches can sometimes just cause more problems than they are worth.

They may be smart, but give the wrong type of advice. Successful debate coaching for Cheney or Biden would be very different for a political newcomer Palin.

They might be messing her up inadvertantly by giving her too many things to watch out for. She looks like she has been warned about 100 different types of interview traps and gotchas and she can't even think straight now.

She is spending more time worrying about how they might trip her up than just answering the question in a straight forward way.
