Me and my wife voted today in Anderson SC and we were amazed at the line for early voting. Folks said it was out the door this morning and we waited an hour and 15 minutes to get to vote. The line was just as long when we left as it was when we arrived.
From the demographics of the crowd I would guess there were a lot of straight ticket democrat voters which should be a plus for Conley for senate, and might just cost McCain the state. (I hope)
Last presidential election when we voted early there were maybe 2 or 3 other folks there voting at the same time, this time they had 8 machines up and running and there was a consistent hour plus wait to get in and vote.
Now, just so you can all start hating me I'll let you know that I did vote against McCain by selecting Obama for prez. There is no write in option for Prez in SC (not that it would have mattered anyways) and instead of taking a half vote away from McCain by voting Baldwin I chose to take a full vote away by voting Obama.
I'm not an Obama supporter, but I do think a McCain presidency is the worst possible outcome of this election.

If you want obamarxist to win you are an idiot...

exactly the kind of f'd up "logic" that dooms our "movement" to failiure forever. thanks.

Come on, guys. Stop criticizing him. He can't change his vote. Worry about your OWN vote.

damn thats dissapointing, shoudl have voted 3rd party. ur 1 vote wont fuking matter for obama but it has a bigger impact for 3rd parties. you just made me depressed, can't believe pauls own "flesh and blood" hardcore supporters are falling for the lesser of the two evil crap. you deserve a slap

The choice to me was between Obama the socialist or McCain the warmongering fascist. So yes I chose the lesser of the two evils for the first time in my voting history.
This is actually the first time I voted for a major party candidate since Dukakis (OK I was young and from Massachusetts at the time, so don't slam me for that too).
The last 3 elections I voted Libertarian, but I could not stomach a vote for Barr this time around, and my other 3rd party option was Baldwin who I do personally admire but frankly his parties theocratic platform scares the piss out of me.

My one last hope is that Bob Conley makes it into the US Senate in SC, and we can punt out as many pro-bailout incumbents as possible this election.

Yes, I probably do, and I'll take it like a man if you want to deliver it.

btw, 3rd party ballot access is done differently here than in most other states, so long as a party pays a filing fee they get ballot access. The amount of votes for the party isn't even considered.
This year the LP ran no candidates for state wide office, but they are still guaranteed ballot access regardless of Barr's results. I think there are currently 6 recognized 3rd parties in SC, all of which have a 'Straight Ticket' voting option even tho they don't have any candidates on the ballot other than Prez.

You'd vote for Marxist Obama, but not Baldwin?

So your hate of Christians is greater than your hate of Marxists?

Well, just understand that everything Obama does is on your head.

I have no hatred of Christians, my issues with the CP platform is their intolerance of other, non-Christian belief systems.

With all due respect, neither Barr or Baldwin stand a chance of actually winning. Did you not hear Ron Paul talk about the importance of voting third party, or simply not voting at all?

You wasted your vote. McCain isn't going to win, so a vote for him won't matter. Obama is going to win, and he doesn't need your vote.

Dude. If you had to do this, did you have to tell us? This is really discouraging. It's one thing to lose a vote to a kid like Hamadeh, but you?

I feel like I need a shower.

Well, if McCain can loose a solid red state like South Carolina then I think that will have an effect on the GOP in the future. I don't just want McCain to loose, I want him to be pummeled and punished.

Why did I even bother telling folks how I voted? I'd rather be honest and hated than dishonest and respected. btw, If the LP had chosen almost anyone else than Barr, then they would have gotten my vote again this year.

It's just a huge blow.

I really thought we were all in this third party thing together.

I understand where you're coming from. I hate Barr, Baldwin's religious views and government just turn me off, and then there is McBama. I hate McCain for all the shit they pulled on us (I'm actually sad people here seem to have forgotten all that bullshit) and his just straight up bullshit overall, and Obama's economic beliefs are crappy. The only good thing out of Obama I see is going out of Iraq... But then again, he'd send more to Afghanistan or Pakistan.

Sigh.

Geez...lighten up. I keep hearing we're effed no matter who we vote for. The thing to focus on, and i'm talking to all the patriots out there, is to remember that the revolution is still alive, and is gaining strength. The door that Ron Paul kept open for US is where we should be giving our extreme attention to, so my advice is to give those that vote for Obomba or McIdiot our sympathies not our scorn. We march on with or with out them.

They will be back. Let them go. We have work to do.

Actually you took two votes away from McInSane. One he did NOT get and the one Obama GOT.

Anytime you vote one of the two major parties, it is two votes, the one for and the one against.

I agree with the part about McInSane losing BIG, but not with the Obama part, because he is a really scary guy. :)

It is always a personal decision, of course, but anyone other than these two would have been a safer choice. I was fortunate to be able to write in Dr. Paul. :D

I am sleeping very well at night. :)
