Not a big fan of polls, but Rasmussen has shown Dr. Paul beating Mitt and Obama.

Americans still support Declaration of Independence: poll

http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/ticket/americans-still-support-declaration-independence-poll-162552773.html

"USA! USA! USA! The timing could hardly be better. On the eve of July Fourth, a strong majority of Americans—70 percent—still firmly support the Declaration of Independence, according to a public opinion survey by Rasmussen Reports.

Here's how Rasmussen puts it:

The Declaration of Independence, ratified by the Continental Congress on July 4, 1776, asserts that "governments derive their only just powers from the consent of the governed." A new Rasmussen Reports national survey finds that 70% of American Adults agree with that statement, up from 66% last year and up from 56% in 2008. Just 13% now disagree with this assertion, but 17% are undecided.

(Of course, a related poll in late June found that just 22 percent of Americans believe their government has the consent of the governed.)"

To breakdown some numbers. 78% believe their government does not have the consent of the governed. 70% of Americans firmly support the Declaration of Independence. So, 78% of 70% = 54.6% of Americans who firmly support the Declaration of Independence do not believe their government has the consent of the governed.

On other poll results: 57% Say Constitution Should be Left Alone; 58% Say An Overly Powerful Government Is A Bigger Danger Than A Weak One; 51% See Federal Government As Threat to Their Rights; 63% Believe U.S. Society is Fair and Decent.

So who has a plan of reaching them?

If so few people believe the government has the consent of the governed why do they still support the basis of the governmental system? Obviously the republic set up by the Constitution has failed, yet people still believe in the system and that voting will somehow change things.

Governments derive their powers from the barrel of a gun, but I doubt 30% of the American public is anarchist. Who the hell are the 30%?

It's the duopoly of the two party system; people usually vote to keep "the other guy" out. Sad, but true. If only people voted FOR someone, and not against. Just ask how many Romney or Obama supporters are voting FOR that person or against the other guy, and I'm sure the majority are just voting against the other guy. This needs to change.

A lot of people confuse the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. They believe that the Constitution grants the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

The Constitution says that those can be taken away with due process of law.

They are the ones who get to hold the gun.

If they polled voters (which I'm assuming they did contact folks who vote, because that's usually where they get political opinions), then they haven't reached my target audience.

I want to reach the guy who hates politics with a passion, and ignite his interest in freedom, just as Ron Paul ignited mine.

Dr. Paul cured my apathy.

And *87% of people believe without government there to protect them there would be chaos in the streets

(*disclaimer: may not be a real statistic)
