Having previously been welcomed by the Orange County Republican Executive Committee (OCREC), we were surprised at last night's monthly meeting. The evenings activities started with the usual perfunctory items such as committee reports, accepting 'minutes' of last month's meeting, and other business.

What also happens at these meetings is the 'voting' of new precinct committee people. This is normally no big deal. Basically, come to two consecutive month's meetings and on the third month be put on a ballot to be appointed at precinct committee person for the area of town you live in. I've been attending these monthly meetings for about the last six months. Each meeting little slips of paper were passed around with new people wanting to be appointed to these positions.

It was always considered that people were accepted without question to be Republican party precinct captains (Florida chooses to call them Committee Men and Women, perhaps to give a more ceremonious title to a grassroots activist). Tonight it was different.

Unbeknownst to us, certain people within the OCREC decided that they would circulate a secret sample ballot showing which new precinct committee people were guilty of supporting Republican Presidential candidate Congressman Ron Paul. This unsigned smear job called these Republicans "EXTREMIST ATTACKER'S OF OUR ORGANIZATION" and "DISLOYAL TO THE PARTY". Strong statements that are no where near the truth.

Like I said this sample ballot was secretly distributed. We would have known nothing of this underhanded tactic except for the eagle eyes of one of our supporters noticing the Mayor Rich Crotty was dutifully marking NO next to each name on the ballot that corresponded to each supposed Ron Paul supporter on the smear sheet. Mind you, that Mayor Crotty rarely attends these meetings and hasn't talked to anyone of the new Republican precinct committee persons up for consideration. Vote NO, ask questions later.

In all the many months that I have gone to this meeting, I have never seen such an underhanded attempt to shut out new voters to the Republican party. If they had questions as to our loyalty to our party, WHY THE HECK DIDN'T THEY ASK US??

It now appears that fear is gripping the Republican party. Anyone that is not in LOCKSTEP with them will be thrown out on the street. And this in an election year?? Doesn't sound like a good way to win votes to me!

I have called and spoken with many of my contacts within OCREC. Some were saddened by what took place last night. Others basically said, "Sorry, but we don't need you." I am personally shocked that the party that I grew up with (supporting Barry Goldwater, Ronald Reagan, etc.) has turned into a snobbish affair.

Am I mad right now? You bet! To be asked to choose between friends that I have in the Republican party and friends that I want to bring into the party is very challenging. I think it is high time to ask the question whether the Republican party really wants to win in November! The Democratic party is rallying it's base. The Republican party seems to want to alienate anyone that might come in with even nary ONE NEW IDEA!!

What's it to be? We now know that the Orange County Republican Party is snooping through our group, reading our emails and even infiltrating our group with spies. They think it is sport to see how they can shut out new activists. Lew Oliver is the Chairman of the county executive committee. Why not call him up and politely ask if you can join his exclusive club.

See you next month. And I dare ANYONE to tell me I'm not good enough to be a REPUBLICAN!

Post Script... I just got off the phone with Lew Oliver. We had a long conversation about his perception that we didn't really support Republicans. I tried to explain that we did indeed support Republican principles, but that we did have honest differences of opinions on the direction the party is taking. Surprising thing? Chairman Oliver and I really had a tough time finding some principle that we disagreed on. Believe it or not it's true. Ask him.

He made clear that he would circulate every last email I have written, xerox every email that anyone in the Orlando Ron Paul Meetup ever wrote and distribute those freely, " in the court of public opinion." I asked him if we could have a chance to respond to the 'cut and paste' of our every utterance. He said he would think about it. I also reminded that as he was a lawyer, wasn't it the right of the defendant to face his accuser?" He laughed and said, "I don't have to do anything." True I said, but it would seem to me that people that were willing to volunteer their time and money to joining the party might be accounted the opportunity to at least answer a smear campaign mounted by members of their own party. He said he would think about contacting those of you blackballed in last nights election. Let me know if you receive such a communication.

Again I publicly state (are you listening Chairman Oliver?) that the Republican party is the last hope for us freedom loving patriots to effect political change. We have much to learn and much to give. It is a shame that the hand of friendship is so quickly (and blindly) brushed aside.

So, can you get more people to attend the meetings? Smear sheets can't top a majority, can it?

how about some forwards this to the campaign and gets some legal action. People from everywhere are trying to kick us and no one is kicking back.

I went to a republican straw poll and felt dirty the whole time i was there. what happened to conservatives? they are like stepford wives all frothing at the mouth wanting to kill more middle easterners. it was sick... they were weary of us Ron Pauler's and we outnumbered them.

bottom line, the republican party was hijacked and we have to decide if we want to move on or take over. personally the name repulses me now.. i think of my self as a constitutionalist. so if ron paul does not move forward as an ind. or 3rd party candidate, i will join the constitution party... enough waiting for swine to change... let them stay in their filth.

RP supporters need to learn subversion tactics to gain power. RP supporters have to start being political animals to throw these corrupt animals out. If you don't, each and every step of the way you will be thrown out of the process.
RP supporters need to get it through their thick head's that this is not about an election year so much as this is about RP versus the establishment.

The rulers don't need new blood, they need status quo, whether it is Hillary Clinton, Obama, or Mccain, they don't care. They are in power because they support the corruption of war, the corruption of the federal reserve system, and just overall corruption. Let me repeat, if you do not use deception or subversion you won't even be allowed to participate in the fight. Until we understand how this game is played we are destined to lose.

What are the local GOP groups so afraid of???

Is being PRO-WAR really that important to rank and file Republicans?

I mean our people are getting involved in the GOP in order to promote smaller government, end federal income taxes, return to constitutional government. We are standing against unbalanced budgets, the prescription drug plan, the No-Child left behind program. We want more freedom for Americans. It's not like we are joining the party to push nationalized health care, open borders & global warming initiatives.

We just want a seat at the table to promote REPUBLICAN IDEALS!

I don't get it...

I would write up a letter to the GOP and copy it to the local newspaper. Then I would post it right here on this wonderful forum! Make the letter professional and present your evidence based concerns. No drama, just the facts and we can get it out. It certainly doesn't do the Republican party any good to have Ron Paul Republicans any more pissed off then they already are.

Tricks and treachery are the practice of fools, that don't have brains enough to be honest.

I'm surprised you are surprised at these tactics.

With the numbers it doesn't matter what they try to do. This will take time. Don't lose hope.

then you win."

Start gathering up all your friends. Doesn't matter if they care about politics, make them go with you.
Bring a small army and crowd the place with your people.
Then- take over.

They don't want to play nice, kick them out of the sandbox.

Florida Ron Paul supporters thank you for your kind words and encouragement. Being the original writer of the episode in question I felt I needed to reply. (Thanks Matt for spreadin' da word;-)

I've been beating the drum for a long time getting more and more people to get involved with the Republican party. I'm not about to stop because some narrow-minded people don't like the way some of our people look or talk.

The Republican party says it is the 'big tent party.' Ok, they're going to have to prove it. Stay tuned for further developments.

I don't scare easily. In fact as one patriot said, "I've yet to begun to fight." Modern day translation BRING IT ON!

Spoken like a true patriot.

i believe in Florida, you need to be a card carrying republican or they will throw their asses out of there in a skinny minute, but yeah, "What torch said, ..." Take over.

That would be fine if the Constitution Party was about the Constitution. But it isn't. It is about a theocracy. So, no thanks. It's nice that they supported Dr. Paul, but they are not worth my support. And unless you believe in a theocracy, then they are not worth yours either.

They're beginning to realize what many were saying here months and months ago.... Either the GOP will fail in November without Ron Paul supporters on their side... OR they will welcome us into the GOP and listen to what we have to say.

They're choosing not to accept us, and they will have to accept their fate in November and accept the blame for the outcome of their decision.

I have also witnessed the very same thing in my county. (Washington State) I have attended every Republican function and meeting for the last 10 months, I volunteered for everything that needed to be done, I sat many hours at the county fair in the Republican booth and made it known that I wanted to be elected a delegate to the state convention. Everything was just great until just before our county convention.
Then right before the convention the county chair who I have worked very close with the whole time started a campaign to get out the vote against me! All the delegates except Ron Paul delegates were called and told who to vote for. People were begged to attend the convention to stop those Ron Paul people...........
It will take time but we will prevail. I could have said I would support John Mcain and that I agree with the war and I would have been elected a delegate. I knew that going in but my principles would not let me do that! I will continue to attend those meetings and party functions and I will bring all the new people I can into the party. I may have lost the battle but I will win the war and so will you! Peace.
