Opinion on Colbert's Spanish Ad

I dont think he was being racist. I think he is saying this is America why are there ads in Spanish. I'm Puerto Rican and I wasn't affended. My grandmother came to the states when she was 21 and didn't know a lot of English but she learned.
 
as I've grasp it - the idea wasn't so bad /"we-the media are distorting RP"/ but he got lost somewhere...
 
it was making fun of all latino ads by all the candidates. At least that was my interpretation.

Yeah, I think so too. Ron Paul was the only canidate not to make a spanish ad. All the other guys who want to put up giant fences and protect our borders and send all the immagrants back made spanish ads. That I think was the punch line.
 
I thought it was hilarious, and the phone part at the end had me rolling. Seriously if you guys are taking it as a personal attack against Ron Paul you are getting WAY too narrow minded.

Isn't the US citizenship test in English? Don't you have to know a minimum amount of English to get citizenship?

Don't you have to be a citizen to vote?

Why are the ballots in California in Vietnameese, Korean, Chineese, Spanish?

How much did it cost to translate and check all that stuff.

How do you spell Ron Paul in Korean? Lon PauR ?
 
i watched it and i didnt really get it, im not sure i do even now? Why the circus freak brothers and stuff?

Actually, what would be novel is an ad for Spanish people in ENGLISH.

99% of Hispanic citizens that vote can speak pretty good English. If they can speak they surely can understand.

A similar commercial for Asian Americans in California would also be appropriate.
 
The only thing I didn't like about it was the preface, in which olbert implied that Ron Paul "can't afford" a Spanish ad. He even called him a "struggling" candidate.

If a man who makes 6 mil in one day is struggling, GIVE ME MY BALL AND CHAIN, BABY!!! :D

He was just being funny..I laughed pretty hard at the end. If anyone checked out RP's family they would find out it is full of ministers and doctors and could not be more normal. He was just kidding, as usual, and I thought it was cute.
 
I know he joked in the other one where he said the earth revolves around the sun

but this one, with the "I gotta press 1 for english, what happened to america?"
hmmmmm, I don't think that was humor at all i'm sorry
