Only one at the precinct convention (maybe)

Ok, it is likely that I will be the only one at my precinct convention. I went in to vote today and one of the poll workers was standing there with the convention packet saying "I don't know why they have this, the Republicans aren't having a convention". After a little bit of back and forth I assured him that there was. He didn't have a room for us but he found one while I was there and said we could use it. The lady who was stamping voter cards asked if I wanted the Republican stamp on it...they said that they hadn't been doing it all day since there wasn't going to be a convention.

So I sent an e-mail to the two other people in my precinct that are in the meetup group. Along with my wife, and if the other two people show up we'll be able to pass whatever resolutions we want. I have about 9 of them prepared.

I've never been to one of these before so I'm not sure how it works. Maybe I can get a whole slew of resolutions and submit them to the county convention.

Either way, it looks very likely that Ron Paul will get all of the delegates from my precinct (3).

Hmm, if we have more Ron Paul delegates than all other candidates...couldn't we pass a resolution in the state to have all Texas delegates votes go only to presidential candidates from our own state?

A Few Updates From Lubbock, Texas

The weather is pretty nice for the most part. Something I sent to a friend:

"UPDATE: Lubbock area has 9 contested Precinct Chair positions in which basically Ron Paul like minded people are running for that Chair spot. One Precinct, FIFTY-SEVEN, have both candidates that are somewhat like minded (I have not had a chance to fully investtigate some of them, way busy!) Ron Paul-ish seeking the spot.

Then, there are a few sleeper non contested spots out there for Dr. Paul.
Our precinct looks pretty quiet.. Mostly Hillary.

Oh and yes we have been slathering the campus with local grassroots newpapers, slim jims galore, as well as putting up our signs at our precinct."

Let's see how things turn out with resolutions and precinct delegates. We will be trying as hard as we can! I know 3 votes and potential delegates to county are waiting for the convention.

I also voted today, and want to go to the precint convention. I might be the only one also, BUT I DIDN'T GET THE REPUBLICAN STAMP. Can I still go??

YES, as long as you signed the roll. They have to give you access to the roll.

You don't HAVE to have your card stamped, but it's just reassurance that they can't try to claim that you didn't vote. You should also get a receipt and a "convention certificate". Mine was blue, but they come in different sizes and colors. It's basically a little slip of paper that has your name and says that you voted in the Republican primary. Just try to have any proof possible just in case they "lose" the voter list or something equally fishy.

Just voted for Ron Paul and asked for the precinct convention to which the lady looked shocked and said no one ever goes to it.

OMG, go and take any other RP supporter. Vote yourselves in as delegates. That is what it is all about. Pray no one else shows up, make your self the chair and appoint delegates if that is allowed. Vote for each other. If you can get two there you can make it official.

Too good to pass up. Anyone from Texas help them out on what to do.

Go back to your precinct location and ask for the Republican precinct convention packet.

I'm very worried. I don't have anything to show except for my DIEbold stub. No party affiliation tag, no nothing.

grab every friend you have... beg, bribe... whatever... get them there to vote for Ron.

I hope I'm not the only one there, I don't know what the hell goes on there or what to do there. I meant to learn and become a PC but I neglected it.

My precinct: 1 for Paul and 1 for Huckabee

We were the only two Republicans there. There were 6 delegate positions and 6 alternate positions. Only 2 were filled.

I wasn't the only there. It was my wife and the previous precinct chair who said she's glad to retire after 40 years. She then said "I left a perfectly good bar for this?". So after she voted for me to be convention president she said good luck, she didn't want to be a delegate and she went back to her bar.

So there's 3 delegate slots for Ron Paul.

Plus, I have the precinct packet that I need to turn in. I turned to my wife and I said "I vote to reconvene this meeting at home". I have at least 15 resolutions to submit (that will undoubtedly pass my precinct, I doubt my wife will vote against any of them).

One that I'm going to try to pass under the radar says "all candidates must provide a photo ID proving their Texas residency or else their votes will be null and void".

I imagine McCain might have a hard time proving his Texas residency.
