Only 17.51% of RP supporters voted in Iowa. No wonder we were 5th. Learn from stats:

The only "analysis" done was me trying to estimate voter turnout for those who said they favored Ron Paul that is comparable to historical values for Republicans in general.

Someone else can probably do better, but no one had yet bothered, so now you're stuck with some dipshit who just did the best he could.

I knew we needed a greater percentage of participation, and I wanted to know how many participated, and how many we really needed.

Feed me some better stats I can use, and I might try it again.

But I don't think I was that far off. Obviously, not nearly enough came in the end.

you're a patriot ... now LIVE FREE OR DIE HARD [someone email bruce ]
get the vote out grassroots ! organize now in big way

kill the banks

People have no problems posting on forums and putting Ron Paul banners on their myspace but they won't take 20 minutes to go out and vote?? But they'll have a march on World of Warcraft??

You New Hampshire assholes better get out there and vote for God's sake

What the hell, man - I'm sure he'll vote. Why are you mad at him?
I'm out of control, but I expected you youngsters to back up my hard earned.

All I've seen is a bunch of defeatist namby pamby brats.

My apoligies to the people I backed.

I've been on this forum for awhile, and a lot of people have left because some of you behave like old fish-wives.

I'm personally paying 2 of my "well one vote doesn't matter" friends 20 dollars each to come with me to my Caucus and vote for Ron Paul.

You assholes better do something to make sure we've got more than 17 % of our supporters coming out. I know I will be.

Maybe if we weren't so worried about convincing people Ron Paul is our only hope, and instead convincing them that they should TURN OFF THE TUBE FOR 2 HOURS TO GO VOTE, then we would've won Iowa.

This is an embarrasment to the USA.

Sh*t my generation pisses me off sometimes.

Holy Shit! Where's the backup?

tttar, consider what others have said:

"The 6% polling number is from "likely Caucus goers", not the entire general population or even all registered voters. Your whole analysis is faulted by this fact."

I'm at work so I can't sit down and really think hard about this, but one question I have is what "VEP" is in the spreadsheet? It shows 2,250,000 total and 1,125,000 for Republicans. What do these numbers represent?

BTW, I really hope your numbers are right because they are, we have so much room to improve. Image if turnout was 90% and we still finished in 5th place. We would have no hope.

Look on the Turnout sheet. I just looked at the 2000 and 2004 VEP (explained in flagged cell in Primaries sheet: Voting Eligible Population) numbers and guessed at what 2008's might be.

Quick, rough guess (I have to work for a living too): 50% are Republicans.

But any error here would affect both numbers I was trying to compare about equally.

And the 6% was also taken from some recent poll I had remembered. Just a rough gauge of support.

If it's not right, you can adjust it. 7% suggests a 15.01% turnout, etc.

If you think RP has even less than 67,500 out of 1,250,000 in Iowa, decrease the 6%.

I mostly wanted to convey the order of magnitude of our problem, but if you show me more specific stats I can use, I'll knock myself out some more.

I'm really saying the same thing as our lovable Ozwest, here. I'm more precise than he is, at least, aren't I? :)

MORE LIKE 100%

Unless you have a death in the family, or something similarly catastrophic, YOU HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO EXCUSE NOT TO VOTE!!!!!

Take 30 minutes, go to the polling place, fill in the fucking ballot and CAST YOUR VOTE!

You lazy fucks who didn't, or wont vote, are going to cost us this election. You know who you are, and you should be fucking ASHAMED!!!

I remind you of my very first post.

http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showthread.php?t=34421

An annoying article I'd read by an anarchist inspired me. A moderator kindly changed my "stupid" to "silly" for me in the title. :)

And to think I'd gotten all worked up over the fact that turnout might *only* be 50%.

Sigh.

What is it with you guys continuosly pumping numbers?

Would you go head-butt somebody or something?

What next, cucumber sandwiches?

I heard the legendary list had 21,000 and that close to 17,000 actually turned out for RP.

But the official tally was only 11,817.

I wish I knew enough about the voter fraud issue to have a good opinion.

That should be even more talked about, if it's happening.

Too many of you are "overwhelmed" with your U-Tube connection.

Guess what? The "old f%cks, are going to steal this right away from you, and right under your scrawny asses.

Welcome to your "America."

Its my experience that you won't persuade people to do what you want them to do by being a flaming ass.

Something you may want to consider...

Sorry mate, If you want some loving- and - affection, you ain't getting diddly squat. Stop being a girly-boy, and bite on a fucking bullet, or somethimg...

Who's even disagreeing with you?

We all say people should vote, and you tell us to go and vote some more.

I readily admit I'm not the brightest bulb around here, but you can substitute any percentage you think is correct, and have the results based on that.

it doesn't matter ... to some degree you're right ~ we know we messed up iowa from our own list #'s ... it must not happen in NH is the point

It can't?

Well ok, maybe, then, but what do you think the number is, and can you show me some stats?

The 11,817 actual votes, divided by what?

And that probably wouldn't change my point that we need close to 60% turnout and didn't get it by a long shot.
