*ongoing* Romney FB likes crash as Ron Paul's steadily rises

People often throw around the term "viral" on these boards; I always laugh a bit on the inside when I read something like "make this go viral."

But this chart (from a few posts above) is what "viral" looks like:

I predict Rand Paul will have over 1 MILLION likes by the end of this month.

Wishful thinking...but a little too optimistic. He did 40-50k first day, and has another 30k today, and might get 20k tomorrow and 10k the day after...but after that i think will be back down to 5k/day, which means it will probaby take about 40-45 days to reach 1 million since he's at 742,000 right now. Who knows, it's possible he could sustain 10k a day for a few weeks if people keep talking about him, but he likely won't reach 1 million until sometime in April at least.

lol maybe he could hit a millie if he had another #filiblizzard moment.

Rand's huge influx will pay even more dividends as the newbies start liking/commenting and sharing his status messages among their own networks. That's the beauty of FB in that it's pure organic and Rand's filibuster brought in a lot of new people who probably wouldn't have liked him or been exposed to him normally

Is there any group or site that tracks followers, likes, fans etc on social media? It would be cool to see where Rand ranks among everyone.

By my count, since I got the 674 figure from about 1:30 yesterday, he is now at 57k in exactly 24 hours.

Damn, I should've been counting his twitter followers too. Does anybody know the numbers for his twitter?

I think it was around 92k when it all started.

Lindsey Graham is trying to reach 20,000 likes... funny.

Haha, doesn't seem to be going too well for him. Almost every comment is against him and most mention Rand...

You criticize Rand Paul and yet you sell yourself for a dinner with barrey? You sell arms to the muslim brotherhood and critsize a Rebublican?
I hope you get less likes. You are not what the republican party needs. We need less democrats in disguise like you. You should retire now.
If there was a DISLIKE button I bet we could get to 20,000 in a matter of minutes!
Screw you Lindsey! Stand with Rand!
No one likes a has been RINO like you and John
Maybe a full out I am sorry to Rand would help get you some more likes. If you want to stress fairness, ask Rand to share some of his likes. Not fair he has more, it all needs to be even..

I looked up a few of the other well known potential names for 2016 and Rand crushes them all.

Rand Paul - 783,369 - http://www.facebook.com/RandPaul2010

Marco Rubio - 432,515 - http://www.facebook.com/MarcoRubio

Newt Gingrich - 300,166 - http://www.facebook.com/newtgingrich

Rick Santorum - 198,762 - http://www.facebook.com/RickSantorum

Bobby Jindal - 160,721 - http://www.facebook.com/bobbyjindal

Scott Walker - 143,472 - http://www.facebook.com/scottwalkerforgovernor

Chris Christie - 97,248 - http://www.facebook.com/GovChrisChristie

John Kasich - 42,085 - http://www.facebook.com/JohnRKasich

Jeb Bush - 10,712 - http://www.facebook.com/jebbush

Paul Ryan is difficult though. I wouldn't count his official Congressional page because that's not used for campaigning.

The page he used to use for his personal page only had 89,300 likes.

Paul Ryan - 89,300 - http://www.facebook.com/Ryan4Congress

Then he had his "Paul Ryan for VP" page that was last used on November 7, 2012.

But it was just recently changed to drop the "VP" and now he's using it as his personal page, making 3 posts since March 3rd.

Hey girl, changes are coming to Rep. Paul Ryan’s Facebook page.

The “Paul Ryan VP” Facebook page for the former GOP vice presidential candidate will lose its “VP” designation and switch to just “Paul Ryan,” according to an automatic email sent from Facebook to a Red Alert Politics staff member.
http://redalertpolitics.com/2013/02/23/paul-ryan-vp-facebook-page-will-change-to-paul-ryan/

That means he immediately jumped up to 5 million likes, but they're dropping:

So that will be interesting to follow as he starts making more posts. He just got himself a pretty big leap with no effort and jumped ahead of everyone. But will people stick with him or continue to unlike the page as they've been doing?

Ryan will not run for anything. He's not a good enough candidate and is well aware of his own limitations. He will probably chair another committee after 2014 as he is already getting waivers on the budget committee.

Also congressmen don't tend to do well in presidential races. I cant remember the last one to get the nomination who was a congressman?
