Ok, Ron Paul is history. But surely we can all help Bob Barr.

We cannot, after all the trouble, all the sign waiving, all the money donating, all the effort, just allow 2008 to be yet another election cycle with a Libertarian getting a measly 0.5% of the overall vote.

No one here likes McCain
No one here likes Obama
Then surely we can all get behind Bob Barr. He is a third, but really the second choice we have. What do we have to do to make him a serious player in this race?

I SWORE to vote for Ron Paul. I WILL vote for Ron Paul. It doesn't matter who else you vote for, you will STILL get Obama or McCain. I'm going to vote for the man who represents MY beliefs.

I agree with you on this, and I still may make this decision also.
It's just the whole "furthering the Revolution" idea that's conflicting with me wanting to write him in. Some days I feel sadistic and want to vote for Obama just to spite the nation because he'll do nothing for us, but it'd be going against what I've really wanted for 8 months when it comes to supporting Dr. Paul. Not voting has come across my mind, but I'd like to think that I made a difference - even it's a .00001% of a difference - so that's my last option.

Fuck Barr.
Vote your conscience.
You WILL get Obama.
This has been decided for you.

This is a prediction.
You WILL get Obama.
Tell me why I'm wrong.

That i agree with.
what are the chances of a 3rd party win?
not good.
but I will fight for the LP regardless.
No matter who the nominee.

This is the same Bob Barr who did a literal "witch hunt" against Wiccans in the military, right?

By Steve Visser

"Barr told the crowd of 120 that Wicca threatened to erode military discipline--a fear not uttered publicly by military commanders--and the First Amendment needed to take a back seat to that concern."

Good one!

Nothing against wiccans but i agree with Bob.
and the witch hunt stuff is propoganda.
don't fall that that.
"In my opinion, your policy of encouraging the practice of witchcraft at Fort Hood is based-at best-on a severely strained interpretation of the First Amendment's "free exercise" clause," Barr wrote.

Barr said in an interview Friday that his concern is not about "what people do in the civilian sector but solely with practice on military bases by active-duty personnel." "The fact of the matter is--and witches won't like this--our country was founded on a basic belief in God, " Barr said.

Listen. Both Barr and Baldwin have problems. The fact is we no longer have a serious Liberty candidate running for president. To my mind, it doesn't really matter whether you vote for Barr or Baldwin. Neither is going to win, except by some miracle. I feel it's enough that we put a big chunk of 3rd party votes on the record books.

It seems pretty clear to me that this election is over. I strongly suspect Obama will take the prize and that his reams of supporters will not long afterwards be disappointed by just how status quo his presidency will be. If you want my advice, don't trust in rhetoric, trust in actions. Obama's record demonstrates a very typical political, democratic position.

Honestly, Obama doesn't need our votes. Why should we, those who ought to oppose his taxes and entitlements, give our votes away just to spite McCain when we could do so in a way that also spites the two party system? I believe, if you truly support a change in the Federal system, you should cast a protest vote with either Barr or Baldwin.

If 20% of the vote is for neither of the center ring clowns, people will take notice. Come next election cycle we can use that to our advantage.

If you don't think that my religion is an actual religion, that's fine.

However, Barr did try to introduce legislation that would infringe upon religious rights. And did say that about Freedom of Religion. You are being disingenuous when you call these facts "propaganda."

That is a play right out of the Demopublican playbook. Or Neo-Con.

I actually think wiccan is cool.
I myself am an Eckist.
Thats Eckankar.
but in the army all ya nead is
a good ol preacher. so to speak.
Barr will keep military standards in place.
And he is for prayer in school, but i don't know
about non-christain prayer.
I would think a prayer is a prayer. just no
shrooms in the classroom:cool:

It just sounds like people are looking for ANYONE to vote for besides obama or mccain. Isn't that sad... America really needs to turn itself around.
