On that zip code voter finder. If they don't have a D or R next to there name, is it ok to get their signature. There are people without either that consider themselves to be part of a party but it does not show them to be part of a party on the list. I am scared to have them sign, fearing this could lead to bad signatures. Does anyone know?
Only registered republicans in the state of Ohio or people not affiliated with a party (independent) can circulate and/or sign a petition. Someone with a party affiliation of Democrat is neither allowed to sign a petition nor circulate it. You do not need to live in that particular county or district to circulate that petition, you just need to be registered to vote in Ohio and not be a Democrat. The deadline to register to vote or change party affiliation is at least 1 month prior to March 7th. Since our deadline to meet these signatures is less than a week away, we must not assume and must not take risks, so do not circulate if you are not a registered Republican/non-democrat and ask and verify your volunteers' party affiliation.
