Official Thread: Rand Paul filibusters the Debt Ceiling Budget

This speech is amazing. Any poster on this subforum who declares that Paul is selling out his father's movement ought to be ashamed of themselves and publicly flogged. Simply a brilliant speech.

But he betrayed his father and endorsed Romney!!!

:toady::toady::toady:

I'm trying to put a finger on the differences though between his floor speech just now and his campaign speeches, because to me, listening to Rand just now was much more engaging and motivating than any speech I've heard him do on the trail recently, and I listen to quite a lot of his speeches on the trail.

The main difference is that he doesn't have his key campaign advisers in his ear telling him how to present his message better. =)

Paul has handlers on the trail but his senate maneuvers and language is all him. Rand needs to nix some of his staff and just be Rand.

There's entirely too much laughter and joking around on the floor. So arrogant that they're could be that carefree about what they're doing.

Rand has so much passion and care for this country...I don't understand how he doesn't have more supporters.

Damn! All the votes end up with the same totals! Yes-63 No-35

Conventional wisdom...you would think that the Democrats would be the ones up in arms about taking out social security...?

D.C. is so fucked up.

I think Cruz genuinely thought it was Rons bill and was trying to grab Ron Paul supporters with that line.
as I recall, Ron Paul had an Audit the Fed bill...in the House! To Welch's point, Cruz can't co-sponsor anything from the House. It was deliberate...Cruz is a snake!

The earliest a vote can be had now, is in 30 hours from closure.

or 100 hours maximum if each Senator were to use their one hour of debate - or give the floor to Rand, Cruz, Lee or other fiscal conservatives
on this matter like Grassley, Ernst, Flake, Sessions, etc. (below) and even here - surprising a bit - Gardner.
But I thought Barrasso (R-WY) would 'ave been a good guy here.

It is the nation's matter, so the damn RINOs/false conservatives like McCain better be voting and working on this chit - even at 1am.
I'll get the list of the ones up for re-election that we'll support not to part of the next Congress in one year.

Need a list of those voting for Cloture, voting to wave the "don't raid SSI" that Rand forced into vote early this morning, and those voting for the Debt Ceiling Bill. 3 votes.

Save your breath. It's all a dog and pony show. They can't stop the runaway train. What would happen if they stopped raising the ceiling? Total economic implosion of fiat system.

Just delaying the inevitable so that hopefully other people will feel the pain, or won't feel it until they're done with their political career.

someone should move to remove McConnell. that is the only way the Rinos would learn. then take away all their chairmanships. and Mitch backing Rand does not matter.

They'd probably replace him with Cornyn, next in line and also on the wrong side of this vote :-p
