If I heard correctly, Rand intends to speak for an hour, and asked that other Senators will come up and speak for an hour.

They are hoping to get to a passage vote tonight. Senators are allowed to take 1 hour each to debate the topic up until 30 hours, which delays a passage vote. So Rand is using his 1 hour and hopefully several others comes up to continue it on until tomorrow.

Yes, once there are no more senators taking claim to their one hour time, the senate will move for passage vote.

Other Senators could also yield back time to Rand to continue I believe under cloture.

Yes, I believe they can. They would still be in session though, so there is a potential to miss a passage vote. Not sure how the Senate deals with such situations. I imagine they'd proceed the next day instead.

It's funny he'll go for hours on end in the Senate but doesn't use up all his 30 seconds on the debate stage.

I was thinking that too. The other candidates pretty much always run over their time. If you're making a good point that the audience likes, then they will be totally on your side when the moderators try to stop you.

A speech for the ages. He is at his best when he goes on these rants. Needs to find a way to channel that in front of an audience other than an empty senate chamber and late night C-SPAN viewers. He sounds legitimately angry at congress. I don't get this same emotion when I listen to his campaign or debate speeches even though he makes a lot of the same points.

Interesting move on social security. Not sure I fully understand what this point of order is actually doing but on its face it sounds good.

They must have. That other Senator stood up and quoted the exact law and said they wanted a vote to waive that portion of the Budget Act for this vote/situation. At least that is the way I understood it. Rand was trying to get a vote from his point of order to get the Senate to admit they were taking money away from Social Security fund to spend it on SS Disability immediately as a "quick fix" as he said - fix being like a drug habit of spending.

Lindsay Graham and McConnell the only Republicans I heard voting against Rand Paul's position. Well make that Lamar Alexander and John McCain now too. Despicable.

This law, that Rand is trying to stop, is taking money out of SS fund. It is against the rules. Rand is now forcing them to vote on taking money from social security fund to spend it on their addiction. I am impressed. They voted for unlimited debt ceiling and Rand is now making it even more painful for them.
