Official Thank "Who" or "What" converted you to Ron Paul Thread

I was on a trip to Manila in the Phillipines and the only english news channel they had was Fox News, at the time I was a huge liberal but being forced to watch enormous hours of FNC including the infamous debate with the Ron Paul/Giuliani moment is what got me down on that road.

Buddy Rey from this forum is the one that hooked me up with Paul back in 2007; and I have been a diehard supporter ever since. I will never be a sheeple again.

Bush II not closing the border, constant war and increasing welfare finally opened my eyes that "the two political parties want the same thing" -- there's no difference. I asked "why" and started researching and studying politics for the first time in my life (sad, but yes, I'm 60 years old). I joined the Tea Party, which turned out to be the same old stuff.

Glenn Beck woke me to United Nations Agenda 21 -- after that it was a matter of more research and voile -- Dr. Paul was the ONLY answer I saw anywhere. YouTube videos woke me to Dr. Paul.

Once my eyes were open to Dr. Paul -- all the progressives were as obvious as a sore toe
I pity the older generation that only gets news from paper/tv media -- how will they ever learn?
I agree with Dr. Paul that it's the younger generation (meaning "computer savvy generation") that can save America.
We have to spread the word.

Very impressive story. Your 60 years resulted in an uncommonly wise and ambitious individual. Glad you're here. A month belated welcome to the Forums. Hey just curious..what did you think of Dr. Paul previously? For example, did you see him in any of the debates in 2007-08?

Personally, I discovered Austrian Economics and libertarianism before I discovered Ron Paul. I only had seen the name Ron Paul as the author of books at the Mises Store, upon googling his name I discovered that there was a huge movement behind him.

The things that originally converted me to believing in self-ownership and Austrian Economics was the ISIL resource "The Philosophy of Liberty" (link in my sig) and a couple of papers called Taxation, Forced Labor and Theft by Edward Feser.

Boy did those things open up my eyes. I then visited the Mises Institute and reading articles on that site reinforced this conversion and convinced me to order a load of literature for the Mises Store. Reading Economics in One Lesson, For A New Liberty and What Has Government Done To Our Money? sealed the deal. After that I found out about Ron Paul and was encouraged to see such great support for a guy who's a proponent of Austrian Economics.

Got turned onto Alex Jones after 911 and he introduced me to Libertarian philosophy. And then I listened to a Ron Paul interview on his radio show and figured that if Alex would have a congressman on then he must be good! Turned out that he was GOLD! I've been a huge fan ever since and followed his career even before 2007 came along.

I don't listen to Alex as much as I used to but I'm still a huge fan. And for the haters, you may not like his methods but he's probably been the No.1 recruiter to the cause of Liberty in the past decade.

I started watching the debates in 2007...I had never really gotten into politics before...I remember I liked Huckabee because he wanted to pass the Fairtax and get rid of the income tax...then I found out Ron Paul wanted to get rid of the income tax and replace it with nothing...and I was hooked. I found this forum through a Google search for Ron Paul.

I'd like to add my thanks to Giuliani and his over the top response in the 2007 debate to what struck me at the time as a logical statement from Ron Paul on the natural consequences of an overly aggressive foreign policy. And I had previously supported the wars. Ron Paul made me look at them from a different angle, but it might not have happened if not for Giuliani's excessive twisting of Dr. Paul's words. (Note to the corporate media and politicians: sometimes when you lie about or distort what someone says, and its blatantly obvious, you lose credibility and have to face...oh, what's that word...oh yeah, blowback.) Thanks Rudy.

I read everyone's post, very touching stuff.

Ron Paul always.

I stumbled upon Ron Paul in 2006 or 2007 through Michael Rivero's website: www.whatreallyhappened.com and as you can see, his support is as strong as ever.

He linked a youtube video in which Ron Paul was talking to a small group of supporters about a book by Robert Pape. He explained Robert Pape's research that suicide bombings were not motivated by religion but by the military occupation of their lands.

When I looked up the book, Pape explained that "the world’s leading practitioners of suicide terrorism are the Tamil Tigers in Sri Lanka–a secular, Marxist-Leninist group drawn from Hindu families" and that "every suicide terrorist campaign has had a clear goal that is secular and political: to compel a modern democracy to withdraw military forces from the territory that the terrorists view as their homeland".

Here is the book, but I am unable to find that video.

The rest is history.

It was all those great unbiased interviews from Fox News that turned me on to Paul.

Just kidding :D

I was deep into 9/11 research and had followed a link to some guys website (Alex Jones/PrisonPlanet) I had never heard of. Over a couple weeks of checking his website on 9/11 stuff, I kept seeing articles posted there about Ron Paul. I wasn't yet searching for a politician but I became familiar with his name.

Then I had one of the 2007 debates on TV in the background and I heard Ron Pauls name. Sat down to actually watch the debate. He had me at "what if China invaded America and were patrolling our streets". The skies opened up, a bright light shown down on me, the angels were singing, trumpets blaring. Okay, that last part didn't happen, but a bright lightbulb turned on for me and I started researching him in earnest. Already knowing from other research that ending the fed would resolve about 95% of our problems, well .........

the seed for ron paul was planted years ago by Harry Browne for me. Thank You Harry Browne, Ron Paul 2012 Common Sense

I wasn't really "converted" but my father and Gun Control Act of 1968 are probably the main reasons why I'm supporting Ron Paul today. Had to wait awhile for Ron to come along but individual freedom has been a big part of my life since I was a child. I had a father who instilled it in me, and I saw the effect of government infringement upon our freedom when all of a sudden as a 15 year old I could no longer go to Carr's sporting goods store to buy bullets for my .22.

My bday was 9/11/1984. True story. Investigating the events of my horrific 17th bday led me to goldismoney forums

and godlikeproductions forums, which led me to Ron Paul in college around 2005.

I blame Osama bin Ladin for pulling me down the rabbit hole!!

Good thing the war on terra protects us freedom loving Merkans from tear-wrists!
