Official Thank "Who" or "What" converted you to Ron Paul Thread

Probably Freedom to Fascism... I know it was a film, and people have mentioned that here, and I know I saw that.

All I know is that the first time I saw his desk plaque I started looking into him (don't steal: the government hates competition). I knew instantly any congressman with that on his desk was someone I needed to know more about.

It was around 2005/2006 I was investing in commodities, mostly gold mining stocks. People on different stock message boards would speak of Ron Paul's positions. From there I found Lew Rockwell's website and Austrian Economics and there was no going back as my thirst for knowledge was insatiable.

almost similar story: 2001 Dot com bust -job loss -intelligent investing - 2002marc faber -2004 jim puplava financialsense -bill bonner calling ron paul 'our man in congress'.then forget about paul till 2007 US primaries.

i am not american, but i've managed to 'convert' a few american colleagues of mine into austrian economics lovers aka ron paul supporters

Thanks to a friend I met while playing The Lord of the Rings Online about 4 years ago. The conversation even took place in-game.

In 2008, I was a Fox News watcher, and listened to Limbaugh, Hannity, & Levin. I don't believe that I ever once heard of Ron Paul prior to the '08 election. I was passionate but grossly uninformed. My trusty news sources had managed to obscure Ron Paul from my sight entirely.

After Obama got elected, I became a Tea Party co-organizer. There was some contention amongst the neocons in the group regarding "conspiracy theories" tainting the group. Those issues drew my attention and I discovered a whole lot of stuff that never got exposed by the "conservative" pundits that I faithfully listened to. I got tipped off to Alex Jones and began listening to him as well. I also may have seen some discussion of him on an internet gun forum.

From a combination of those sources and events, I discovered Ron Paul and quickly became his biggest fan.

I guess the biggest thanks goes to the Tea Party member who swirled a little controversy into the group. He's now a good friend of mine and we lead the local Ron Paul movement in our county.

My boyfriend at the time listened to some crazy radio show called the Alex Jones Show back in 2004. ;)

My thanks goes to the supporters who posted about him in the comment sections of online political articles in 2007. I voted for bush in 2004, used to listen to sean hannity and watch fox news. It was very liberating looking him up and learning about him. I never looked back.

saw the debate before the Iowa caucus. You can see my join date here is Jan 2008. I can't believe I've been on RPF for 4 years. Holy crap.

I'm not sure, but I think the first time I heard of Dr. Paul was in the early-mid 90s- I think I read an article of his in the Libertarian Party News (the newsletter you get when you become a paying member of the Libertarian Party).

I would like to thank my states Dept of Revenue for me finding Ron Paul. They got this little stick stuck with pricklies on it stuck in there behind and decided I was supposed to have something to do with this nonsense called Sales Tax. It just so happened I stumbled upon Jack McLambs Aid and Abet article on the right to travel on the same day. The rest is a long story. After nearly twenty years of looking at this Satanic $hit that passes for Government, I am convinced Ron Paul was sent by God Almighty to help fix this mess. If its only a brushfire started in the Peoples minds I will be satisfied. I pray daily that It is much more than that. Either way I rest assured we will win.

obama, schiff, and you tube

what did it for me: obama victory woke me up, dude scared me. you tube (special shout out to goeberX or whatever his name is!) brought me ron paul vids and I read peter schiff's books. no going back after all that. lol i still cannot believe i supported bush and voted mccain........i remember tossing my george w bush coffee mug in the trash can and feeling the satisfaction of it smashing into bits.

I wasn't “converted” to Ron Paul.

I was, however, pissed off that under Newt, the Republicans couldn't pass a 1 percent, across the board spending cut (1 penny on every dollar) with their contract on America.

That is when I decided that I needed to find something else. I started doing some investigation and I discovered libertarianism, and Ron Paul and I've been a fan ever since.

Bush II not closing the border, constant war and increasing welfare finally opened my eyes that "the two political parties want the same thing" -- there's no difference. I asked "why" and started researching and studying politics for the first time in my life (sad, but yes, I'm 60 years old). I joined the Tea Party, which turned out to be the same old stuff.

Glenn Beck woke me to United Nations Agenda 21 -- after that it was a matter of more research and voile -- Dr. Paul was the ONLY answer I saw anywhere. YouTube videos woke me to Dr. Paul.

Once my eyes were open to Dr. Paul -- all the progressives were as obvious as a sore toe
I pity the older generation that only gets news from paper/tv media -- how will they ever learn?
I agree with Dr. Paul that it's the younger generation (meaning "computer savvy generation") that can save America.
We have to spread the word.

John McCain, Mitt Romney, Newt Gingrich, and Michelle Bachmann. Seriously, the lunatic rantings of Dr. Paul's opponents and his detractors in the neocon media did more than anything else to "convert" me. I used to be a "rock ribbed Republican", but the Republican party lost me when it turned to war mongering. How can you oppose the abortion "rights" of those who wish to kill their own children, and support a party who uses unconstitutional executive orders to send other peoples children to die in undeclared military actions (wars)? Enough already.

Thank you Mr. Giuliani for attacking Dr. Paul back in 2007 debate regarding terrorism. I can only hope that Bachmann and Santorum's attacks this time around are waking others up.

Mine was from a debate in 2007, not sure which one, but I can nail it down to a single answer from Ron Paul. It was the question about getting rid of the income tax. He said we can only get rid of the income tax if we change our minds on what the role of government ought to be in our lives. Seems obvious now, but that was the moment I really saw the light.

2007, I was wondering why the hell our young men and women were dying in Iraq with no WMDs. I felt very betrayed by Pres. Bush. Did a youtube search related to that, and up came Ron Paul vids. Since then, I started the local Ron Paul group (still going strong), became active in the local GOP, and ran for office. And that's just the political stuff...finding out about fiat currency and the Fed from Dr. Paul has brought our family big lifestyle changes preparing for TEOTWAWKI.
