Official State of the Union Thread

Ugh, the John Birch society makes me gag a bit, regardless they have a good overview in general of Republic vs Democracy.

No disrespect meant, I just dislike and disagree with them in a lot of issues. Mostly their idea of a theocratic republic.

I missed the SOTU speech and the simultaneously drinking game.

Will someone please let me know how many beers I owe?

Thanks.

Just get a couple of cases and make a reservation with the local ambulance co to pick you up and take you to have your stomach pumped - that should be about right....

I wonder how many kids are actually writing these letters asking when daddy will go back to work.

SHeesh

All of the indoctrinates who were given "write an open letter to the President" assignments are. I'm sure some guy reads them, and I'm sure some percent of kids think "the pwesidend is in chawge of everything," and can magically create a new job specifically for their dad, if only they ask nice enough and use good (but not too good) penmanship.

Samuel Alito had a Joe Wilson moment. Watch him (he's on the left) shake his head and mouth "That's not true" as Obama criticizes them.

I know it's been said a million times. But a man can say words that anyman can agree with and then go around and go against what he just said. He has a lot of balls to badmouth the Supreme Court and then fill his own cabinet with special interests. The man has no respect in balance of powers.

His mentioning giving tax credits to business that hire new workers or raise rages (you know they're likely to go with the latter, as it's less costly), frightened me, as this is just a different way of implementing Hoover and FDR's policy of "wages never fall", which makes a recession/depression last longer since prices can't correct.

If that goes through, you can get unemployment will go up.

Ah yes, good old wage controls and price controls.

Centralist economy! Here we come!

Did anyone else see Pelosi stand up and clap when Obama called for more transparency and an end to backroom discussions in congressiona negotiations?

WHAT?!?

Also,
"I don't think our elections should be bankrolled by America's most power special interests." - Barack Obama

^ If that's the case, then you shouldn't be counting on a lot of campaign money for 2012 Mr. Obama.

Just thought I'd mention that during BO's "State of the Union" address tonite there was a LARGE gathering of black ties in the lobby of the Bank of America headquarters, toasting champagne and eating a full buffet. Local police were stationed at the front doors.

I was in uptown Charlotte celebrating my birthday with a friend and happened to walk past the building. I yelled at a private security guard "You work for the devil!" (haha literally and figuratively) as I walked past. I wish I had taken pictures.

I didn't watch the entire speech. I find it rather disturbing how Obama talked down to the Supreme Court. How much more experience does Obama have defending the Constitution than the members of the Supreme Court? The Supreme Court is more powerful than the President. I bet Obama will NEVER get his way the Supreme Court EVER again.

Is he done yet?

May I start drinking?

If I didn't have this rotten cold, I know I would feel better than most of you are going to feel when you wake up this morning.

I am so happy that I elected myself to pass on his speech.

devil21 telling the guard he worked for the devil. Good one. I guess they figured no one would pick up on the party.

I didn't watch the entire thing, either, but I noticed that as a trend. Obama does not believe in separation of powers.

He talked down to the Supreme Court, as you noticed, and encouraged Congress to make a law to "correct" their decision.

He talked about how Congress hadn't approved some panel he wanted, then said he'd issued an Executive Order to make it happen anyhow.

It went on and on and on... I did eventually turn it off.

The SC decision needs to be faught and struck down with a stake driven through it's heart.

State + corporation in bed together = fascism,

which is the major problem we have right now. RP often calls it corporatism. If we let these artificial people have such a great influence and voice in our elections, we've lost everything. The SC basically gave the OK stamp for turning the USA into Hirlers Germany.

This is basically the ONLY thing I agreed with the guy on last night.
