I think they are working for a brokered convention.

If FOX/Rupert is working towards one all the better for Paul to win it, as it actually gives him a better chance than if they got behind one favorite. By trying to kill off Paul so repeatedly and blatantly, the network drawing so much attention to him that they are turning into one of the chief assets Paul has!
