Official presidential election results thread - Nov. 8, 2016

More empty talk. Trump isn't going to do jack $#@!.

And that's precisely why I hoped he would win.

The sooner you people are disabused of your absurd, masturbatory fantasies and realize that the establishment is not even going to be slightly dinged by a Trump presidency - and that Trump himself never really had any actual intention of seriously dinging them to begin with - the sooner you'll realize just how foolishly pointless it is trying to beat the system at the system's game by the system's rules on the system's turf. Once enough people finally understand this (if they ever do), then there might be some kind of actual chance (maybe) for some kind of actual change.

But until then, it's all just "a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing" ...

You've been wrong enough for one night, haven't you?
Even if true, I have no idea what any of this ^^^^ has to do with anything I said - which was merely that Trump isn't going to do jack $#@!, and that the sooner his ardent supporters realize this and stop hoping for change by working within the system, the better.

That's because you still think this was a normal election, with the normal forces at play.

Putin isn't done with the Clinton Foundation and NATO yet.

This sick pedo /terrorism / war ring is going down. You better believe it.

Somebody has to save the world from WW III.

When I woke up to read the election results (couldn't be bothered to watch last night) I was mostly happy that Clinton will be packing her body bags with wasted election resources and the glass ceiling remains intact for hopefully the future first woman president who isn't half as evil as she.

As far as the trump being president, I don't see that as a victory, but merely the best possible outcome that had any real chances of happening. I have peace with me this morning because I had nothing to do with him getting elected.

Ron Paul is still my prez.

There were real victories last night- Rand, Amash, Massie all won by large margins, plus Eric Brakey for ME Senate and Jason Lewis in MN-02

I'll echo that, with one addition to what I firs did when i read Trump won.

With the CA returns, it looks like Clinton might win the popular vote.

+1 No choice but to see the positive in this. Clinton reign is kaput. (until Chelsea starts... cue creepy sequel music)

We've got lots of time to fight Trump. It complicates Rand's 2020 plans - attacking Hillary would have made him a shining star - but I'm sure he'll adjust.

Rand is young. Perhaps he can spend the next 8 years facilitating a serious network of connections, both covert and overt. He'll definitely need a cadre of volunteers much larger than he has now, and most importantly, he'll need to hone his persuasion techniques and knowledge, so he can speak freely and easily.

Trump has not redefined what a successful politician needs, more like he filled a demand required by two new generations in the world of new media.

You're right, it is.

The lack of something essential is so deep in that ilk of humanity, it defies my reason in some ways to think how these people manage to make so much money - to "succeed" in $$-terms. Most are not funny, not particularly talented, willfully blind, incalculably ignorant... I guess it shows the low character of the people who make them wealthy.

The real story here is that the dying (and now, perhaps dead) legacy media is finished. They no longer control the narrative. Whatever you might think of Trump, this is the end of an era and a significant change in the cultural zeitgeist. The MSM is finished, the alternative media is ascendant. If libertarians weren't so horribly ineffectual, it would be a good opportunity on which to capitalize.

Yes. This is the best victory of the night for Liberty in my eyes. The media, the pollsters, the narrative are all finished, everything we were hoping would happen after enduring 2008 and 2012. The Trump people were able to build off existing entities and build their own during the last year and a half. We need a full scale libertarian based media operation in the same vein and we need one soon. We will succeed and we will spread the message of liberty if we can ride the wave in a similar fashion.

I am in utter shock, not at the result, but how much the media and polls got it wrong!!! I mean wow!!! Women failed Hillary!!! Latino effect was overrated (atleast for now)

Maybe the progs will realize that libertarians aren't as crazy as they paint them out to be. Limited government, motherf***ers

The best analogy I've heard.............

The Left realizes they showed the knife to the Whites too soon. Now comes the fake tears and cries for peace. Lol

Gotta Love RAND!!!

Dr. Rand Paul ✔ @RandPaul
I'll be watching my TV today to see which of the Hollywood elite will board their private planes and leave America!

This was the video I showed my politically clueless 13 year old son who was on the Hillary bandwagon along with his classmates, in order to explain why people like me, who didn't vote for Trump or support him were still giddy at the liberal meltdown that occurred last night.

I got him to finally laugh about it, once he realized it isn't the end of the world and he got some real perspective of why this happened. Judging by my Facebook feed having multiple cries of "racism! sexism! I'm so disappointed!" it's clear many still don't get why people got behind Trump in the first place.

But seriously dude, the butthurt on Twitter was glorious.
