>>>***Official***<<< Presidential Debate Thread

I'm reading around the government press, and I'm seeing "draw".

That, and they are really pushing this:

The "differences" that are not.

Politically and policy wise, this is as pointless an election as I've seen in all my adult life, even more than Dole/Clinton in 1996.

Didn't Obama say something similar to that a few months ago?

Romney had vowed to change course on a series of policies, including repealing Obama’s signature health care law. He ridiculed the president’s assertion that the tax code encouraged businesses to ship jobs overseas. ”I’ve been in business 25 years,” he said. ”I have no idea what you’re talking about.”

LOL - Yeah, right.

I don't know, 2008 seemed pretty bland to me. But then again I guess it was exciting as we got are first Ethiopian President.

I do remember the O (msm) saying 'he' was going to play up Mitt's 'libertarian leanings':

http://dailycaller.com/2012/06/05/obama-says-hell-portray-romney-as-extreme-libertarian/
President Barack Obama is previewing his next strategy in the 2012 campaign — an audacious effort to paint former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney and the majority GOP as radical libertarians that have abandoned mainstream American politics.

Since 2000, “we [Democrats] haven’t moved that much. … What’s changed is the Republican Party,” Obama told a group of wealthy donors gathered Monday night at a New York town-house owned by Marc Lasry. Lasry is a billionaire equity-capitalist who runs a $20 billion fund that buys up the shaky assets of failing companies
Teh drone/peace president sez it so it must be true...

So just like everything else being a 180, change is not change and differences are not differences... but yet they are.

Wow, O-Bomb-ya must have really stepped on his dick tonight.

It's more that he is actually facing a candidate that can actually counter-punch with the same vague, moderate feel-good speak. LOL This isn't Alan Keyes or elderly John McCain. He may actually have to earn this one.

Romney needed a knockout, he didn't get it.

Wow. In retrospect, that may have been Obama's plan that Mitt effortlessly undermined by having no libertarian leanings. Any time Obama tried to imply that Mitt would destroy a social safety net or encourage deregulation, Mitt responded by empathizing with Barack, and simply saying that he'd provide better, more efficient, safety nets and regulations.

From Twitter:

Mark Hemingway @Heminator

That wasn't a debate so much as Mitt Romney just took Obama for a cross country drive strapped to the roof of his car.

hahahah.. oops.. peed a little

yep.. that was funny

+1

RPF is not a "friendly" forum for Romney right now. If we're concluding that he won the debate, then he probably did from the "outside world's" vantage point.

Even democrats are saying that Obama lost. Romney destroyed him.

I couldn't watch it. I watched Gary Johnson watching the debate for a little while. Which was nice, because he was sort of a surrogate debate-watcher. He talked back to the screen and sighed and ranted for me.

Then I had to turn it off altogether because I started feeling queasy.

I don't care what any of you guys think. Obama won that debate because he looked better and talked smoother. The words they said where pointless on both sides. But Mittens was jittery and pink in the skin and blinked about a thousand times a minuet.

Obama will get a bump from this Im telling you guys.

Did I just hear that social security is sound? From a government whose boldest plan is to have a balanced budget in 30 years?

No, it's because it's all in the script and these buffoons are just playing their parts. I told my fiance last week that the narrative for the next month is going to be Romney gaining major ground and pressuring the pres in the polls and such. See, they can't let it be a runaway for Obama, the soft support won't turn out thinking the lesser of two evils has it in the bag. They have to keep it competitive to create that urgency, or remarkably they may endup with Mr Magical Underpants afterall.

*edit* hey llepard, long time no see, hope all is well in your neck of the woods. :)
