"OFFICIAL" Post your idea of how you would like to see Grassroots Central broken up.

please, please don't change anything. it will wreck traffic. many of us love having one place to go to keep up to date. i know i, for one, would seek a different fix if this site ceased to be that. and ultimately, in the long run, people will just end up congragating in one of the newer forums anyway.

Multiple members are requesting we break up grassroots central.

What would you like to see?

I was thinking breaking it into these three sections.

1. Grassroots Activism

2. Speculation and Predictions

3. Media and News (also polls and data)

Would like to see Media Spin remain it's own subforum.

I endorse it being split like this.

Breaking the forum up would cause me to visit much less. It's nice to click on one link to get all of the Ron Paul updates I want.

I object. I think that upvoting or downvoting threads leads to an insulated "yes man" environment where contrary opinions are squashed and wake up calls ignored. Besides, you will get a lot of pandering for upvotes, just look at what happened to Youtube.

I'm not a fan of Youtube, Yahoo "Like/Dislike" style voting. I think point accumulation is the key, and upvoting and downvoting a thread or post should "cost" points, i.e. an upvote "costs" you one of your points and a downvote "costs" two (to discourage neg-bangs). Points become the "capital" of the board. It discourages trolling and encourage "good" content and posting.

If the goal is to reduce redundant/poor content from the board, this type of point system is a wonderful way to do it without breaking up Grassroots Central into several subforums.

This is the only section of the forum that I check, really, so I'd prefer it to stay as it is.

There are probably far more lurkers like myself than actual posters, and most of us probably don't have the time to look through multiple sections every day.

I agree with the poster above. I would not recommend breaking it up. Division into several subforums is a bad idea as it will equal way less posting and as a consequence people will lose interest. Don't change the forum. Keep it the way it is.

Keep it how it is! Or at least offer an all-in-one of all the sub forums. I do 3/4 of my RPF'ing from my phone and loading interesting posts from the list in new tabs, then knocking them out one at a time, is great. It would be a lot more complicated with multiple lists due to how my tabs sort.

I haven't read this thread, but I just wanted to suggest that we keep a section for attack ads and written materials to be used against our opponents.

Perhaps, the bigger problem is that not enough people are aware of "New Posts" function (link at upper left under home). This function is perfect for those that like the fast-paced, one stop shop for all things Paul.

For people who want to get things done, organization is key.
I thought everyone knew about that! I use it all the time.

Well to be perfectly honest I joined this forum because I thought this is the place where action is. So far I am seeing just talk and zero action.... Some really good ideas are failing because they are pushed by other posts who are just gossips and news...Only active part of forum is gressroot central. For me it is not so much breaking up it is how to ensure that ideas and actions are given best possible chance for success. I gave feedback on this allready.

Did you know:
-On facebook you can make free ads worth 25/50 dollars for ron paul.... same ones that Ron Paul Campaign pays hunderts of thousands dollars? This is not beeing done because there is no organisation whatsoever. Some of you gave up going to restaurants once a week to gove money to Ron Paul and I admire that but there are other ways. . . maybe smarter ways like this one!!! and many others... FREE AND EASY!
-I had Idea of "Save and send". I gave up on it because my thread went to 5th page after 6 hours or so...Other people took it and are struggling to make it:recycling campaign material=sending it to NC ... if it works it could be organised that after every election material is collected and sent to next state...
There are plenty great ideas around here but they are destined to fail because of thiss mess. There is needed just a little push, a little help to make many good things happen.
P.s.
If it looks that I am beeng too critical it is just because I want this to succeed. This forum is great tool that is not beeing used to its full potential.
P.p.s.
Screw you all I am not too critical.:D
P.p.p.s.
Except when it comes to lack of smileys on this forum!

true... but it's overwhelming. i'd much rather have 3 distinct sub-forums, that way you know exactly where to go depending on what you are interested in. right now there is just waaaaaaaay too much subdivision. it's a forum about a single presidential candidate. it's not like we're a motorcycle or car forum that has to have subs for every make and model. simple wins in UI/UX, every time.

I agree it can be overwhelming, especially the last few weeks there has been a ton of activity on the forums. There is a solution to that though - you can customize which forums show up when you use the New Posts feature to weed out unwanted information. I posted this earlier in this thread in case anyone missed it:

It is possible to customize which forums show up in New Posts. Check this thread for more information:
http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showth...hat-only-shows-posts-relating-to-the-election

For example, if you would like only Grassroots Central, General Politics, and Opposing Candidates to show up, use these links:
http://www.ronpaulforums.com/search.php?do=getnew&include=296,23,313
http://www.ronpaulforums.com/search.php?do=getdaily&include=296,23,313

Or to exclude those 3 forums from showing up:
http://www.ronpaulforums.com/search.php?do=getnew&exclude=296,23,313
http://www.ronpaulforums.com/search.php?do=getdaily&exclude=296,23,313

You can then bookmark those links for easy access in the future.

I do agree having too many forums can be a bad thing though, even with being able to use the New Posts feature, and perhaps there are some forums that exist that aren't necessary, but I thought the idea of a separate forum for media appearances/news coverage/polls was a decent idea. That's OK, still works OK the way it is now.

I realize it's your forum and all ... but I still think you should have had Collins start this official thread.

I suggest an expansion of the number of threads displayed per page for Grassroots Central. This should prevent good posts from falling off the first page prematurely.

I prefer it as it is, but if you must break it up I guess what you propose is as bad or good as anything.

This should remain as grassroots central (or Grassroots Projects)

A new forum should be Ron Paul News, which would distinguish it from general politics and this.

BAD ASS

I'm stoked that on the entire front page of the grassroots section of the forum there are all NEWS stories... not grassroots anything, just links to NEWS STORIES... except 1 BAD ass thread that keeps dropping off the page.

Way to fail hard grassroots section. Fail... fail... fail.

If i want the news, i'll go to news.google.com

I want to do GRASSROOTS activism... something that is NOT posted about in the grassroots forum... WTF come on guys!

screw 100% of the people who cry about the news not being posted in the grassroots forum. They are not grassroots activists they are couch commanders that sit on their asses too lazy to go to a news page and LOOK for a ron paul article. Screw them and their laziness. I'm sick of not seeing ANY grassroots activism on the page. I never should have read back 2 or 3 pages of this thread. I'm sick to death of lazy people reading news stories all day.

Agreed. I rarely check other sections because there isn't much activity in them
