"OFFICIAL" Post your idea of how you would like to see Grassroots Central broken up.

There are two elements in play in grass roots central that need to be separated: One is a passive form of information gathering and small talk. This is what you get with news articles, polls, debate, video interviews. This needs its own forum. The other is the grassroots motivated planning discussion and action projects, such as fundraising and grass roots campaigning. I believe the pacing of discussion is very different with these, thats the reason the grassroots stuff keeps getting buried. Separating them would be a very good idea.

I dunno, I like Grassroots for what it is: fast paced, multi-topical, informational and ultimately exciting. The fact that 500 (or more) people are viewing the forum with you is exhilarating.

I vote to keep it as-is.

Multiple members are requesting we break up grassroots central.

What would you like to see?

I was thinking breaking it into these three sections.

1. Grassroots Activism

2. Speculation and Predictions

3. Media and News (also polls and data)

Would like to see Media Spin remain it's own subforum.

I'd go for 1. Grassroots activism 2. General Ron Paul. I'd get rid of Media Spin. Forum fragmentation reduces participation.

This is the only section of the forum that I check, really, so I'd prefer it to stay as it is.

There are probably far more lurkers like myself than actual posters, and most of us probably don't have the time to look through multiple sections every day.

ditto

I hate subforums, they are the ban of my existence and they stifle discussion. People need to start using the litany of subforums already available and leave Grassroots alone.

Now one suggestion I do have is to add a "My threads' feature where it allows you to follow every thread you posted in easily.

I have this subforum in my bookmark bar... and use it all the time. One click, and bang, up to date on Ron Paul.

I will not go to multiple subforums. I know it. Others have posted the same thing. It'll just break up discussion. We like a grab bag of activity.

Grassroots is the go to place for RP info. Please keep it that way.

yes, this idea solves it all. This sub forum stuff is getting old. We already have enough subforums.

I was wondering why my thread, 'Free Superbrochures', was moved to Hot Topics?

they move stuff so much. I just try to follow the main page now and GP. starting to remind me of facebook. They try to change things and make it worse! facebook has "upgraded so much and changes features. I rarely use facebook anymore!! so many subforums now i just focus on main page and gp! RPF is my new media! I visit rpf before any media. RPF is my liberty drudge. RPF is the kayak search of the cloud. The One Stop Shop for Media!

I'm happy with it the way it is, but this is fine with me too.

Its important to keep grassroots planning away from all the media threads

I saw an organisational thread get buried quickly by media threads yesterday

I haven't looked at all the other posts in this thread, so I might make a suggestion that was already mentioned.

Move the "Network & Technology" sub-forum out from under Grassroots Central and making it a main forum under the group "Ron Paul 2012: Marketing the Message"

Change the grouping name to be "Ron Paul 2012: Grassroots Central" instead of "Ron Paul 2012: News, Discussion & Analysis"

Then change the forum name from "Grassroots Central" to "Grassroots Discussion"

Create Subforums under "Grassroots Discussion": "News Analysis", "Media Spin", "Opposing Candidates & Ideas"

Demote "Opposing Candidates" and "Media Spin"

Add Main Forum "Grassroots Activities"

Add Subforums under "Grassroots Activities": "Phone from Home", "Sign Waving", "Rallies", "Door Canvassing", "etc.."

Oh and it would be awesome to have some premade search buttons.

That is all the "new posts" button is. It's just a search on speed dial. So if it is possible to make some other forum queries like this, that could be an idea worth pursuing.

You probably don't want to over-complicate it, so I would just have a section for news articles, a section for polls, one for grassroots activities (PFH, Moneybombs, etc) and one for general discussion (you know the "this is what i think" posts - freerepublic used to call them vanity posts).

There Should be a board for Liberty Promotion where we can promote all our own projects and media without being to overbearing on the other boards, I'd defintley use a separate board :)
