Official New Ron Paul Ad: Etch A Sketch

It says he AND the others are talking about trivial matters and the actual issues aren't getting the coverage they should. I
The ad doesn't mention Romney's name at all and his only appearance in the whole ad is a 100 milisecond clip of him talking. The point of the ad is Gingrich and Santorum's attacks on Romney are trivial and they should be focused on bigger things.

you need to be literate, yes!!!
you need to be civicly aware!
you need to cut thru all noise.

Ron gets annoyed with trivial red meat and he was in interviews where this was all people wanted to talk about yesterday. I personally think he actively dislikes Santorum and Gingrich from having had to work with them on the Hill, when Santorum was whip to get Bush's huge govt agenda through, and Newt was lobbying for Freddie Mac, so he has a higher level of personal incredulity watching them reinvent themselves. In an interview yesterday, though, he called Romney a 'modified Democrat'. He isn't distinguishing between them. He thinks they are all pretty bad, policy wise.

I like the ad. It shows what the real issues are while the other guys are holding a toy...they're just playing around, you know. Romney could have been shown more, but maybe they don't have a clip of him holding an etch a sketch.

They could have been more accurate with the debt number. It's actually over $16 trillion now. Really, I want to see Ron hammer the debt issue more and I'd like for him to use the projected debt by Inauguration Day (near $18 Trillion). The higher the debt figure used, the better for Ron as all the others will increase the debt even more. At some point the average American has got to realize that the debt is the #1 issue. Ron has to get the point across that the explosion of debt IS happening and WILL continue with anyone but RP as POTUS. Voting for anyone else is voting for less money in your pocket as more debt = more inflation.

My first thoughts: I thought at first this ad was attacking Romney by bringing up 'etch a sketch', to which I thought "awesome, hes going after Romney now". Then it switches to santorum and gingrich bringing up the etch a sketch and my thoughts are "wait, is he attacking grinch and santorum for being no different?". Then Ron Pauls name comes at the end and I am left confused on the what the ad is about. Yes, he brings up that we should focus on the issues, but the visuals shown were not in sync with what the text presented and as a result, I overlooked it. It's a bad ad, imo.

Anyone who thinks this is somehow a pro-Romney add is almost certainly themselves pro-Romney.

The add makes fun of all three other candidates for not being serious and using gimmicks to gain support while real people are suffering, then states that Ron Paul is the only candidate willing to be serious about the issues.

That's all, it's not some subliminal message about supporting Romney, no matter what some Romney supporters might have us believe.

I admit to going through a very similar process watching the ad. I think it is ok, because when they are this short there is only so much you can do, but it isn't the best they've done.

And???

You think calling out grinch and santo for playing small ball, gotcha politics when our country is on the brink = dumb ??

I think it's genius/righteous/honorable...just like attacking those jackasses when they jumped on Romney for the "i like to fire people" comment.

The media can spin this however they want, but Ron just created a huge a win/win with this ad.
- he effectively shames all the blowhard pro-obama reporters for playing this story up when the country is in crisis

- he effectively shames newt & santo for once again making asses out of themselves by going after Romney for a verbal gaffe that an advisor made

- he's winning the hearts and minds of the 'smart money' in the GOP (re: those backing Romney) who now see Ron in much the same way we do. Do they agree with his anti-war message? No. But they sure as shit respect the hell out of him for his integrity and his unwillingness to use gaffes, class warfare or religion as clubs to beat his fellow candidates with.

A better ad would have been to bring up the 'etch a sketch' gaffe and show (with video proof) how the three candidates are ALL their own version of an etch a sketch. It is a shame we dont have the money for that

keep in mind the AMOUNT of Etch-A-Sketches Barack Obama's people are buying
and handing out with a 1960s glee has impelled the company to double the price!

Good ad. Although I was hoping to learn more about this Etch-A-Sketch thing.

Yeah, I don't know what they were thinking with this one. It was pretty awful. If the media is focused on the etch-a-sketch, then let them run that attack while we focus our ads on Ron Paul's consistency.

not quite, if mitt's loyal underpaid "talking head" has been merrily
joined visually to representative newt's and senator rick's idiocies!!!

Or how about an ad, where they show Ron Paul shaking a constitution, finishing it with, "that's why I prefer these, no matter how hard you shake it up, it remains the law of the land." Or something to that effect.

The ad seemed to be as much against the media as the other candidates, and no context was given for the 1st clip of Romney's aide. Not a very good ad imo.

I think it's a brilliant ad with a very simple message - "hey dumbasses, the discussion of serious issues and substance effecting this country are ==> this a way". It takes down everybody including the media.

yeah, I bet they were just broken hearted about having to do that....
