I think this is a great idea, but I will say just one thing. Lots of times people actually get pissed when you mix their "escapism" with politics. I know gamers get so mad when you bring up politics. They say "Don't mix games with politics, yo" "I use this as my escape from that bull....".

I am not saying this isn't a good idea. I think this is an awesome idea, but just keep that in mind.

I think its fast paced enough that it would be fine... and the imagery ties to the movie so all the ups and emotion from the film get tied to Dr. Paul. Its a win imho.

It's not like we're running a half hour documentary on Ron Paul's candidacy! It's a 30 second ad for Christs sake! This is a great idea and I encourage everyone to donate to it when the chip in starts! This is some of the creativity that the other campaigns don't have! There's something going on in this country and it's BIG! It's REALLY BIG!

I have been in contact about advertising at a theater here in town. The rates she gave me were $210 a week for one movie theater. 392 times a week the ad would play. Minimal 12 weeks purchase time.

If there were an average of 30 people at a screening that could be 150,000 people over 12 weeks. 75,000 for an average screening of 15 people. Those rates while not discounted are still way cheaper than printing out flyers at kinkos at $0.07 I would suspect.
 
the only flaw to that math which is a small flaw is that it is also based on the number of screens in the theatre.

But If you guys email the guy that I left the info for than he might get to me quicker

This is great.

It will definitely work on a higher psychological level too because theres a very good chance a random RP supporter in the audience will clap and cheer after the ad runs. And especially if a few people are cheering, other people will become intrigued
 
Ok I have got the paypal account now I'm just waiting til next week to get the email from this guy unless people emails him and gets a fire started under his ass.

This is an excellent idea. Though I wonder if it would be possible, in order to avoid the PAC or FEC hassle, to have the official campaign take over the issue. They would have pretty much unlimited spending power after Dec16.

(Please don't hurt me for suggesting that a centralized authority do something instead of the people :-p)

PS Does anyone know the political leaning of the NAtional Treasure producers, et al.?
 
I wouldn't mind at all if the campaign took this one over. The message is already packaged and ready to go. How do we run this up the flagpole for review?

I say if you know someone lets get it rolling. I dont know that Dealz has a hard response from his guy yet. We only have a week before the premier.

I have a paypal account already. But I still need to know how we would be limited to what we spend for this and if possible how to get around it.
