We all like to talk about our libertarian bona fides.

But I'm curious about the members of this forum: How "libertarian" are you?

Do we have more right-libertarian "Constitutional Conservatives" here or do we have more Rothbard/Rand anarcho-capitalist types here?

Just curious....

I like to think I'm somewhere between dr. Paul and rothbard, but I'm not sure yet. There is still much to learn.

I guess you could say as far as hardcore libertarian/objectivist types I'm pretty moderate
I beleive that some centralization of goverment is a necessary evil in a country as big and diverse as the USA
I also distrust big corporations as much as I do big goverment, which probably makes me a bit less "libertarian" than your purists

Localist/Minarchist

Extremely limited Federal Government, communities can do what they want. But everyone must obey the Constitution.

I have minarchist and geolibertarian leanings. I'm not a big fan of Rothbard's libertarianism. I know a lot of you are.

Death to labels. Death to parties. Death to political pigeonhole graphs, along with the obfuscatory labels that reside upon their arbitrary axes: 1d (left/right), 2d (left/right/up/down), and beyond.

I believe in the non-aggression principle, foreign and domestic non-interventionism, individualism, and plenty of other ideas. These ideas make me a someperson :)

Win.

I am almost at a place of anarcho capitalism. I was a pure constitutionalist, but now I am starting to see that people in power will always try to corrupt things and the best government is a government in which you yourself is government over yourself.

I still have this small part inside of me that wants some sort of government, but I know what the end result will most likely be.

The only morally and logically consistent position is to oppose the existence of government. One may well be a minarchist, but one must accept the moral and logical inconsistencies inherent in that position.

Government protects man from nothing - government is institutionalized violence. Nature dictates that man is free...

on an internet forum, an ann coulter fan once said "a libertarian is someone who smokes pot and owns guns"
by that standard Im a libertarian

I think I am starting to come around to this position as well.

Government is force, and force is just as evil coming from a government agency as it is from another individual.

Sort of. It is true that government protects man from nothing, but it is more accurate to say the State is institutionalized violence. I maintain that a voluntary government would be useful to help those who are incompetent, weak, and so forth. This would in no way affect you, as you would, of course, choose not to participate.

Force is MORE evil coming from government than it is coming from an individual - government carries social sanction. There is no escaping, nor any fighting back against government.
