Official GA GOP Convention thread

I have an inside scoop from someone within the establishment GA GOP and this person said that 'everyone' is aware of the Ron Paul take over and that they are going to do everything possible to stop us...again this is coming from someone, a staff of the GA GOP committee somewhere in GA. The reason is that they don't think that newcomers should just come in and have their way...that they have to pay their dues have been involved, i.e. seniority etc..so they are justified in fighting us.

In breaking rules?

WE pay our dues every day of our lives assholes. No mercy, will are coming for them and coming in NUMBERS

I read they rammed through the delegates. Was there a vote on the delegates or just a standing count. Also did they adjourn with a 2/3 vote. If not I hope they went outside and voted there own delegates.

Based on the delegates and alternates read at this convention we only secured three alternate slots. With that said we have unofficially, 13 delegates and 1 alternate going to nationals from the district conventions.

If we have people over 50 in GA please just say you are for Mitt/Santorum/Newt. We just need delegates no matter for who they are for and GA I think has over 70.

The Establishment decided their own slate WITHOUT DOING THE "INTERVIEWS" they were supposed to do. It read like a Who's Who of GA politicians. They just went by the RESUMES. Then they rammed it through after some impassioned pleas from a good number of Patriots not to. Tmot spoke and some others. I think we must've had 40% of the delegates? Not sure, but they wouldn't do a count, just the stand up and eyeball it thing. This is just what I saw from watching the Ustream.

XTreat says we got one alternate but no delegates of 31 of each.
It was frustrating. Depending on who you talk to RP was roughly 35%-40%. At the end of the day, we did not have the numbers to prevent the slate from passing, but we did our best to try and have a voice. The most frustrating thing was that, IMO, we had the numbers to at prevent the slate from being slammed through.

The thing that we were up against is a flaw in Roberts Rules. As a backdrop, according to RRs a counted vote is at the discretion of the chair OR a motion can be made to take a counted vote - the motion to have a counted vote requires a majority vote.

Given a very good snake in the chairman, it goes like this.

Chairman admits it requires a 2/3rd vote to adopt Rule 7 (basically killing nominations from the floor). Chairman takes ayes/nays. Chairman claims "it wasn't close", yet in the interest of "fairness" will take a standing vote. After standing vote, again claims "it wasn't close" -thereby biasing the convention who trust the chair there is no reason to do a counted vote it wasn't close. A motion to take a counted vote it made, b/c it requires a majority vote it is voted down.

So the 2/3rd vote could be a 40/60 split, but the chair declares it was 2/3rds. The 40% want a counted vote. Chair knows he has a majority so the counted vote motion fails. Over and out.

That is how the convention went, we had 1/3rd but that's about it. In fact with the chair we had I don't think it would have mattered if we had 51%. If all he does is declare that the motion to count fails he can stand on his throne and proclaim the vote went however he wanted it too.

The only counted vote was for committeeman and woman . . . which the chairman was of course running for committeeman and won. Corruption, corruption, corruption.

A couple of good things came out of the convention:

1) IMO we represented well, we were not "hooligans"
2) The Athens-Clarke County delegation was not seated, the Credentials committee said their convention was wrong poorly.
3) As pointless as resolutions are, we can very, very close to having a resolution pass that said roughly "The GA GOP does not support any candidate who voted for or supports the NDAA". It would have passed if some congresscritter (I'm pretty sure she was some elected official) hadn't opposed the motion by saying that the NDAA does not apply to American citizens and that it is a big fat lie that it does apply to US citz and the going on about how the NDAA is good for us.

Finally, I think one of the reason why so many of the establishment here showed up was 1 very simple reason: to hear Newt speak.

Glad to hear the Athens delegation was not seated. Every one of those bums needs to be thrown out.

I was there as an alternate, basically a spectator.

I'm glad someone went down to the floor and called them out on the "good 'ole boy" system we have in this state.

If you look at the (establishment) slate that was passed, you will note that every other delegate on that slate holds, or has a family member who holds, some high-ranking party position or public office in the state of Georgia.

Hell, former-governor Sonny Purdue was even listed on the slate! Georgia hated Sonny Purdue. Hasn't he already had his chance? Why not let some 'normal' everyday Americans go to Tampa?

:toady::toady:But I DID get to meet TMOT! Well worth it for that reason alone.:toady::toady:

We all just need to get more liberty-minded people in more precincts, everywhere. Y'all put up a good fight, Georgia.

Believe it or not, the delegation actually passed the Resolution with the Amendment. Then, when the chair and the Establishment realized what just happened, they withdrew the resolution stating that it had not actually been accepted. We had voted to amend the resolution which passed then voted on the resolution and it passed. But, hey they can do whatever they want...

Also, pretty sure we got 2 or 3 alternates out of this convention, but not much else. Like others said, we had roughly 33-35% of the delegates and just couldn't do anything. The Sergeant At Arms folks at each of the four mics had their people run up to the mics and they would actually tell them exactly what to say. In one incident, one of the guys didn't move away from the mic and he was used to close discussion on a couple of the motions. Georgia is a tough place to take over currently, but we are well on our way.

That did not sit well with me at all.
