Official Friday night liquor ticker

So, I like bourbon. Knob Creek, Maker's Mark, Woodford Reserve. Recently the ABC store had Elijah Craig small batch 12 year on sale so I picked up a bottle. I have to say I'm not really a fan. Flavor is not as good as most I have tried, and while it has significantly less 'burn' than you would expect for 94 proof, it also annoys my stomach way more than 100 proof Knob Creek does. Anybody else have a similar experience with Elijah Craig, or do you think I'm nuts? :D

I think you're nuts.;) just kidding....Of the brands you've listed I've only had Makers Mark and it's okay, I'm more of a boxed wine connoisseur.

Bulliet makes some of the best sippin' bourbons around, and a great value ($30/bottle) ! Pour this neat, with half a splash of water. Medium to full bodied, yet polished, enjoy sweet baking spice, honeyed grain, and creamy vanilla notes.

Thank god I found this as my everyday bourbon, cause Weller 12 year shot up in price a few months ago, if you can find it all.

All I have is some grape Kool-Aid. It's pretty good. My favorite, actually. Probably shouldn't be drinking the stuff but, oh well. You only live once. Right?

YOLO :)

If you like grape Kool-Aid, you'll love this.
I'm on my second glass.

I had to look up YOLO. :o

YOLO is an acronym for "you only live once". Similar to carpe diem, it implies that one should enjoy life, even if that entails taking risks.

I see that it is said to be similar to carpe diem which is one of my favorite aphorisms, suzanimal. So that's pretty neat.

I've never had any Franzia, though. Does it taste like my Kool-Aid? The last time I had wine it was bitter as all hell.

Don't be embarrassed, I just learned at my son's birthday outing in July and was quickly informed by a snotty nosed 14 year old that nobody says that anymore.:o

Franzia Chillable Red is sweet and refreshing, much like your grape Kool-Aid. Grape happens to be my favorite Kool-Aid flavor as well, pink lemonade is a close second.:)

Back when I was a wee lad we used to sneak away with the Mad Dog 20/20 or the Boones Farm. Now that stuff tasted good. They say it's a bum's wine but I can't tell. Your Franzia sounds similar. I never really tried the expensive stuff when I did fiddle with it. Of course, you get it there and about when you have to go to gatherings and whatnot but I just never did like it. Seems liek the cheap stuff just tastes good. And, man, does it nock you on yer ass too. Whew. Kind of in a happy, buck wild kind of way.

I'm giving up on learning the new slang, though. Cripes we called the holler up yonder because that's what you physically had to do if you didn't have a phone in the stix. I don't get this new version of "Holla". I mean, I do, I suppose, but not really. It's not the same. I don't know a great many of the newer terms.

2. Strawberry Hill -- Like a Time Machine in a Bottle
Perhaps the most sought-after vintage from the Boone's collection, Strawberry Hill's source fruit is, vaguely, "citrus", and it shows. Between the sweetness and the bubbles, it tastes like flat Sprite somebody squirted strawberry-flavored syrup into, or an Italian soda with the slight flavor of bum wine. Nonetheless, it brings back great memories of drinking too much in your parents' basement.

Yes, I think Franzia may be cheaper, it's only $14.00 for a 5 liter box.

1 River Horse Hipp O Langern Imperial Pumpkin Ale
2 River Horse Tripel Horse
1 glass of Port Wine
1 Long Trail Blackbeary Wheat

My liquor cabinet has been almost empty for over a month. I need to go shopping maybe tomorrow. The only thing we have is some wine that I don't like and some cucumber flavored vodka that I don't like.

Trying to decide.... should I get shitfaced tonight or just do some homework and go to bed? Opinions on this important issue are welcome.

Also just occurred to me that this thread documents sporadic binge drinking events in my life dating back for the past 7 years. Man, I guess this is the closest to a journal I'll ever have.

"Lol, Why the heck would you do homework on a friday night?" said by the guy who when in school would say this everyday but change the day "why would you do homework on a tuesday?"
