Compass Box Hedonism Maximus - Very rare old Whiskey

Worldwide availability is limited to just 250 cases (of 6 bottles each).

180$ only.

This reserve version of Compass Box classic whisky Hedonism, which is called Hedonism Maximus, is packaged with a label that pays homage to one of Scotch whisky’s classic labels from the early 20th century.

This is a reserve version of Compass Box classic grain whisky Hedonism, has similar character, but the flavours are much deeper, even sweeter and much more intense given the very old age of the whiskies chosen. For Hedonism Maximus 42 year-old whisky from the Invergordon distillery in the northern Highlands (70%) and 29 year-old whisky distilled at Cameron Bridge in Fife (30%) were used. The result is a truly rare and truly remarkable whisky for the serious Scotch whisky hedonist. The label and packaging pay homage to one of Scotland’s seminal whisky brands, Andrew Usher & Co.’s “Old Vatted Glenlivet Whisky.” In the UK’s National Archives we located an advertising poster for this whisky from 1905 and asked our designer, Chris Edmunds, to create a label based on this.

Flavour Descriptors

Intense aromas and flavours reminiscent of crème caramel, spice-laden vanilla cream and toffee. Big, fat and sweet on the palate. Tremendously long finish.

Super-cheap light "dark" rum from a plastic bottle with coke.

Very drinkable and very alcoholic.

For some reason I can't really get drunk from rum. I can easily drink 3/4 of a fifth in a night without realizing it and still be just fine.

I tend to stick with tequila, scotch, or gin martinis for getting drunk.

Weird. I drank beer and vodka for a long time and I've never been able to get drunk off them like I can get drunk off rum.

-- I've never had ginger beer, Danno -- I'll look into it - thanks.

Vikingfjord vodka and cranberry flavored Sierra Mist made with real sugar. Good stuff.

Damn, wish I had some good barley wine.

Tonight, I decided to try some Four Loko, to see what all the media bitching is about, and before asshole Minnesota politicians make it illegal. Seriously, we have some VERY stupid liquor laws here. Having a Republican-controlled legislature gives me a little hope to get those laws changed, but not much. If we need anything above 3.2% alcohol after 10 PM or on a Sunday, we have to make a liquor run to Wisconsin. And any other time, it's only available in licensed liquor stores, not grocery stores or convenience stores. Pain in the ass...

Anyway, $10 got me four 23.5 oz cans of 12% Four Loko. That's equal to about 16 beers and 8 energy drinks. I'm not impressed with the taste. It's like somebody poured a bunch of vodka in an energy drink, then tried to cover the alcohol flavor up with too much candy flavoring.

I gotta admit though, this stuff screws you up. And not in a typical drunk way. After 1/3 can, I was permagrinned. Now I'm 1/3 through my second can, and I'm thinking it might not be a good idea to finish it. I think 1 can might be a good way to start a night of partying, but that's going to be my limit.

I'm so damn glad this stuff wasn't around while I was in college.

newcastle brown ale here and after watching Jesse tonight, cheers to Homeland security - welcome to the "list"!

Good shiat, great for sipping, you'll be surprised, one of the better values out there.
