**Official Blimp Updates**

Lawyers on staff

"They have Lawyers on staff, five if I am correct and I am sure they are well versed on any and all legal issues."

I'm your doctor. And I'm very well versed in all medical issues. Just take these pills and don't bother me with any questions.

Since the banners need to be "exact" to conform to the shape of the airship, how is daily expansion/contraction dealt with? I would think the banners are made of something flexible, or the ring clips have springs or something.

Yes! I hope the Paul campaign plans on Dr Paul being in Boston and that people have a rally site (late afternoon), with the blimp and that media are told about it!

Huh? Maybe you are typing/thinking too fast and just didn't get what you were trying to say properly. But just in case....you aware of the already planned huge rally in Boston at Feneuil Hall on the 16th right? http://ronpaul.meetup.com/68/calendar/6622547/?from=list

I work across the Potomac, looking straight into DC (I can see the Kennedy Center and Washington Monument from my window). Will I be able to see the blimp if it takes off on schedule?

Probably no. There are severe airspace restrictions over the DC area. Flying into the are is being explored but we do not see any current resolutions.

good luck to all of us

Airship Management is well versed on the banners and have used them multiple times in the past. I am not familiar with the exact materials being used and we are leaving this to their experience and professional management. I will ask (when there is time) and try to get a more informed answer.

good luck to us all

There is an airspace restriction called the DC FRZ (Flight Restricted Zone) with about a 15 mile radius around the capitol building. They only way they can fly into there is with a TSA/FAA waiver which is rather painful to get, they have to take fingerprints and do background checks on the pilots and all sorts of stuff.

I'm sure the organizers can see that donations are at a standstill, until more progress is demonstrated. They said there will be updates tomorrow. Get some rest and check the thread later.

I hate to say it, but the Airship Management probably don't really care that much about the timeliness of the banners.

I've dealt with people are ware supposed to care. They don't unless they are bugged morning, noon and night. Airship should be asked who they talked to, and then ideally someone from our team would call that person. Basically, don't depend on the middleman. There are such tight time constraints, that all the conversations should be done on grassroots end. The Airship Management and banner people should not see this as rudeness, but simply due diligence on your part due to the timing required.

I'm guessing the banner people don't really understand our urgency, and only if someone from the team talks to them every day, will we really know when the materials will be ready.

From what I understand, the airship people do understand the urgency very well. Maybe better than us because they have experience with what it takes to get the blimp ready. All the free publicity for the airship management company is great for them.

This will probably be the most free publicity they will ever get for their blimp.

I think the banners are made of very lightweight parachute material. You can imagine how bulky this might be.

If weather goes bad, perhaps flying it south to Atlanta would be a good idea while the storm passes.

Not sure how much that could cost more though.

Yea, it's supposed to be the most heavily guarded airspace on the planet.

Which totally explains why a hijacked private commercial sub-sonic 100,000 lbs behemoth was able to penetrate the airspace, maneuvers its way through the skies, line up a clear pathway into the pentagon, and slam into it!

Based on how well they guarded the airspace that day, we could probably just take our chances and be alright.

"The government can protect us" pshhhh.....

Uh, the restrictions weren't put into place until after September 11.

I think I read in another thread that the blimp owner is a supporter (hence the rate were getting). I'm assuming he will do his best to make it work.

Since september 11th, 2 or 3 small planes have flown over the White House on accident. It wasn't until 10-15 minutes later that jest finally showed up to escort them out of the no fly zone.

The blimp is no plane. And DC's always been a no fly zone. There's a bunch of airports around DC, 3 major, many small and a few Air Force bases. A jumbo jet is going to get through there going 500 mph, sorry, it just will.

I remember for about a year after 9-11 you could see missile and rocket stations set up everywhere. Nothing was coming into that airspace then.

There's no way the blimp flies over DC now, not for the first stop. It will need to be shown to be a credible item before that airspace is granted. As it is now, the blimp would need to fly around some far out suburbs not even getting close the beltway.

For this, and because of the potential HUGE storm the mid Atlantic is getting this weekend, the blimp should go directly to Boston via the I95 corridor. Once up there, it can make its way back stopping in all the major cities before it gets to Florida.

BWAHAHAHAHAHA.
We'll be moving MUCH slower. Something like 8 mph?
They MIGHT be able to shoot us down given enough
warning, but I'm still skeptical.

As far as being certified to fly over DC.....Didn't the blimp just return from a Navy assignment? I am sure that took some kind of cirtification wouldn't it?

Should provide them with some connections anyway, wouldn't you think?

We'll be lucky if they manage to get a hook up and Dr. Paul gets to speak from Iowa!! Not counting on it, but it would be sweet!! Good job blimp team!!!

that's why i thought "certification" to do NFL games would be easy to attain....
