I thought that too after I got over the shock and thought about it. Hopefully that strategy, if that's what they were after, happens.

That seems to be the general “alternate consensus” on CNN right now; that the prize was a tactic to raise expectations on Obama. While that may not be all bad, it doesn’t say much for the integrity of the prize. Anyway, I think EVERYONE (including Obama himself) is universally proclaiming WTF!

Here’s my little theory. The NP has become like Time Magazine’s “Person of the Year”, in that it can be awarded for notoriety as well as prestige.

Whats funny is that I heard that the nominations "closed" sometime in January. So for 2 weeks of work, Obama gets a prize. Sounds like something I do for my 3 year old

Another joke I heard was that one wonder's what the conversation between Gibbs and Obama was this morning (if he was the one that told him)
