You know, he is correct that you will be able to keep your private healthcare if you so choose, but only as long as those privately held companies are in business.... which won't be long if they pass this train wreck.

So Obama and the democrats are telling the truth, you can keep your private health insurance or care, they destroy that next.

Well, I agree with you on this subject. That is exactly what would happen if this so called health care bill is allowed to pass.

I feel most here realize this to be the case, but it's sad that many haven't a clue that this is the reality facing them in short order.

I honestly don't care if it is public insurance or private insurance... the "insurance" part is what still irks me. Go back to the cash-pay no-insurance way health care was done before Nixon. I personally have no health insurance entirely by choice and object to the implication that I should be forced to have it.

I agree with this.

Government regulation increases the cost of everything.

I agree that no one should be forced to pay for health insurance. I also believe that if some one wishes to purchase health insurance that they may do so. When you are young and immortal health insurance appears to be a waste of good party money. When you are somewhat older and have experienced life you come to realize that you are not immortal and that just one unexpected illness can destroy all that you have worked your entire life to accomplish. I fall into the latter category and am now trying to figure a way to protect my health long enough to enjoy my rapidly approaching retirement. I'm finding that the health care that I now enjoy will be well out of my reach after retirement. As much as this concerns me I am absolutely opposed to the socialist health care being proposed by our renegade government.

I found this on TF. I am not a member so I hope that person doesn't mind as I think all should see this. If correct, I don't want any part of the BO death plan. I don't need to be counseled on how I am going to die.

THE ONE WORD TO DESCRIBE OBAMACARE
Written by Dr. Dave Janda

As a physician who has authored books on preventative health care, I was given the opportunity to be the keynote speaker at a Congressional Dinner at The Capitol Building in Washington last Friday (7/17).

The presentation was entitled Health Care Reform, The Power & Profit of Prevention, and I was gratified that it was well received.

In preparation for the presentation, I read the latest version of "reform" as authored by The Obama Administration and supported by Speaker Pelosi and Senator Reid. Here is the link to the 1,018 page document:
http://edlabor.house.gov/documents/111/p....

Let me summarize just a few salient points of the above plan. First, however, it should be clear that the same warning notice must be placed on The ObamaCare Plan as on a pack of cigarettes: Consuming this product will be hazardous to your health.

The underlying method of cutting costs throughout the plan is based on rationing and denying care. There is no focus on preventing health care need whatever. The plan's method is the most inhumane and unethical approach to cutting costs I can imagine as a physician.

The rationing of care is implemented through The National Health Care Board, according to the plan. This illustrious Board "will approve or reject treatment for patients based on the cost per treatment divided by the number of years the patient will benefit from the treatment."

Translation.....if you are over 65 or have been recently diagnosed as having an advanced form of cardiac disease or aggressive cancer.....dream on if you think you will get treated......pick out your coffin.

Oh, you say this could never happen? Sorry..... this is the same model they use in Britain.

The plan mandates that there will be little or no advanced treatments to be available in the future. It creates The Federal Coordinating Council For Comparative Effectiveness Research, the purpose of which is "to slow the development of new medications and technologies in order to reduce costs."

Yes, this is to be the law.

The plan also outlines that doctors and hospitals will be overseen and reviewed by The National Coordinator For Health Information and Technology.

This " coordinator" will "monitor treatments being delivered to make sure doctors and hospitals are strictly following government guidelines that are deemed appropriate." It goes on to say....."Doctors and hospitals not adhering to guidelines will face penalties."

According to those in Congress, penalties could include large six figure financial fines and possible imprisonment.

So according to The ObamaCare Plan....if your doctor saves your life you might have to go to the prison to see your doctor for follow -up appointments. I believe this is the same model Stalin used in the former Soviet Union.

Section 102 has the Orwellian title, "Protecting the Choice to Keep Current Coverage." What this section really mandates is that it is illegal to keep your private insurance if your status changes - e.g., if you lose or change your job, retire from your job and become a senior, graduate from college and get your first job. Yes, illegal.

When Mr. Obama hosted a conference call with bloggers urging them to pressure Congress to pass his health plan as soon as possible, a blogger from Maine referenced an Investors Business Daily article that claimed Section 102 of the House health legislation would outlaw private insurance.

He asked: "Is this true? Will people be able to keep their insurance and will insurers be able to write new policies even though H.R. 3200 is passed?" Mr. Obama replied: "You know, I have to say that I am not familiar with the provision you are talking about."

Then there is Section 1233 of The ObamaCare Plan, devoted to "Advanced Care Planning." After each American turns 65 years of age they have to go to a mandated counseling program that is designed to end life sooner.

This session is to occur every 5 years unless the person has developed a chronic illness then it must be done every year. The topics in this session will include, "how to decline hydration, nutrition and how to initiate hospice care." It is no wonder The Obama Administration does not like my emphasis on Prevention. For Mr. Obama, prevention is the "enemy" as people would live longer.

I rest my case. The ObamaCare Plan is hazardous to the health of every American.

After I finished my Capitol Hill presentation, I was asked by a Congressman in the question-answer session: "I'll be doing a number of network interviews on the Obama Health Care Plan. If I am asked what is the one word to describe the plan what should I answer."

The answer is simple, honest, direct, analytical, sad but truthful. I told him that one word is FASCIST.

Then I added, "I hope you'll have the courage to use that word, Congressman. No other word is more appropriate."

You must either be quite young or very wealthy. If young then time will show you that you are mortal and can not foresee the future. If wealthy then you are fortunate.

Sorry dude I am neither. I also know that I am a mere mortal. I just don't believe in insurance. To me it is just the biggest rip off.I haven't ever had health insurance.

I depend on my own self mostly to keep myself well. I know the thought that I could possibly take care of my own health is out of the norm. When I tell people that they look at me in shear disbelief:eek:

As long as I stay away from that evil chemical additive that should be banned called aspartame aka: equal I don't have any problems.

Well you must have been blessed with superb genetics. If that is the case then of course you have little to worry about. Unfortunately most of the human race has some form of genetic predisposition to a disease or two and must look forward to an infirmity or two in old age. I'm in this category as I have type two diabetes. It runs in my family so the choice to have it was not mine. Whereas insurance has been of no help for you it has helped greatly by paying for the birth of all three of my children and and all of the childhood misfortunes that happen to most children. They are all grown now. It also has payed for my diabetes treatment as well as a heart attack I was foolish enough to cause. It is not inexpensive as I pay $360 a month and my employer pays an additional $640 per month. As I reach retirement I am faced with some unappetizing choices. Either roll the dice and do not have health care after retirement or pay out a sizeable portion of my retirement income for health care. I have three years until I turn 65 and retire so I still have some time to decide. One thing I know for sure is that I do not want socialized medicine aka Obama care.

My H used to work as a chef for a 6 week inpatient dietary program that treated people with heart problems most of them had diabetes as well he saw many people roll in in wheel chairs and walk out on their own 2 feet. Most of the diabetics had adjusted their insulin to lower dosages some came completely off their insulin . All of the people were there because they needed surgery but were too over weight to operate on.

He had them on a diet that removed sugar, salt, meat, and oil. They had one serving of fish or white meat turkey per week. A very high percentage no longer needed surgery after they went thru the program. Many did go back to their old habits of over eating the wrong foods and ended up in bad shape again.

We have kicked around writing a DIY book on the diet.

I'd rather have socialized medicine than socialized insurance. Obamacare is NOT socialized medicine.

This too. 10 years ago my father was diagnosed with type-2, now he takes little if any medication for it and has basically no signs of it, including his former 400-500 level glucose. Of course for him the diet is changed and got rid of the frequent soda+ice cream habit.

Obama care is indeed the beginnings of socialized medicine. It is the nose of the camel so to speak. I too am on a restricted diet consisting of low carbohydrates and lean meats, green veggies and cheese. No other dairy products. I am also on a regimen of heavy weight lifting and cardio. My doctor and I both agree that lean muscle to fat ratio is the key to controlling diabetes. I am not ready for dietary modifications only as I am not ready for a rocking chair. Straight diet restrictions will indeed get rid of excess fat and help control sugars. However it also reduces muscle mass, strength, endurance and can cause balance issues. I am a very active individual that shoots firearms, fishes, bow hunts and rides a heavy motorcycle (Harley) so as you see my physical well being is very important to me. My job consists of very little physical exertion as I work in the field of integrated electronics so most of my work is intellectual. A better form of health care would be nice but not at the expense of the older generation or the financial well being of the younger generation.

got any tips for type 1 in a toddler?

Obama says that if you like your current insurance, you can keep it. That is true. What he failed to mention is that you'll be paying for the government insurance in addition to your current plan, whether you want to or not.

Sure you can keep it.... until they force the company out of business by subsidizing the hell out of government healthcare in turn making private insurance costly and unavailable to all but the elite.

Then if you don't want government regulated insurance private or public, he'll fine the shit out of you for not having any insurance.

He need high deductible insurance policies with dollar for dollar tax credits to afford premiums & HSAs that are completely free of taxation. That will inject some capitalism into health care, create greater health freedom, will be cheaper & will reform health care & eventually fizzle out Medicare.
